Final Fantasy XI

I ask again, is anybody getting - or thinking about getting - this game?

I see screenshots like this...

...and I just about want to puke.

But, the game is stacked. The 360 version comes with not only the main game, but both expansions as well - including the just released Treasures Of Aht Urhgan. And it's only $50. Sounds like a great deal!

Plus... "The addition of the 360 makes FFXI the first "triple-cross-platform, triple-region" massively multiplayer online game." --Square-Enix ...which I think is really cool.

What in the screenshot makes you want to puke, the graphics or the munchkin ninjas/Prince of Persia dressing things?

I'm going to pass on it. I'm about done with all J-rpgs. Their one saving grace is the developer tri-Ace. I know they are making Valkyrie Profile 2 for PS2, but they also have an unannounced title for 360. If those aren't at least decent, then I'm done with J-rpgs.

The game is a huge PITA to install from all accounts, and you're going to need a keyboard for chatting. On top of that, the type font is very small, making it a PITA to read. And don't forget your monthly fee.

The game is going to seriously tank here in NA. Bbbbbb...ombbbbb! Even hardcore rpg purtists don't seem interested in this game.

Remember one thing if you do get it. There's a CD key you need to use and the minute it's used, this game becomes non-returnable.

I read that you can use your headset.

And Waco's right about the installation. I had the beta, but it was such a hassle to install that I just quit it. It's a whole 'nother mess un-installing it too. Now I have the crappy Playonline viewer deal on my achievement page.

Still, I find myself really itching for an MMORPG. Ever since Microsoft and Level-5 teased us with TFLO.

I never understood the pics they chose to show for this game always kinda lame. I've played the game for about 2 years and enjoy it. as for the game they are always adding new content through updates or expansions and take input from the community. I tried wow but it was too easy. FFXI is a time sink but an incredible challenge that i find rewarding. FFXI was my frist mmo so when i played wow for a while it seemed to easy. Like any other game if you go through the motions you'll progress. FFXI in order to be sucessfull you need skills. I'd say give it a shot now it's 29 bux i think and you get a 30 day trial. If you want a world pass for my server i'll try to hook you up as far as how to get started etc.

now for the real reason i found this thread. Not that it related to my search. does anyone know of someone with a 360 that has this game and if a person who has a content id from an account that originated on a pc can be used on the 360/xbox live?

The biggest downfall for this game is the fact that an additional online fee is needed above and beyond what I pay annually for XBOX Live. The same may keep me away from the next Phantasy Star Online title even though I'm a HUGE fan of the series.

Yeah the problem is the game has been out since 2002 and it's just new to the 360 platform. I guess it's like any mmo if they were to port it to a console. Im not sure if the PS2 people have to pay anything additional but i know it does work with xbox silver so if you didnt have gold it would just be the Play online fee.
