Well at this point it doesn't seem that people are going to stop buying 360 and wait for PS3 or Revolution. My friend is trying to get a system and he always ends up one step behind the massess. At a Costco here he was told they had stacks of 360's by the time he got there they were long gone. According to stories on IGN and Gamespot 360's are showing up by the droves in stores and selling out just as fast as they arrive.
It seems that all around the world 360 is doing well, except Japan, in Australia the system sold the most consoles in one day surpassing the sales record of the PSP. Now there is talk that Microsoft will re-launch the 360 in Japan this summer. With more games coming out this could be a good move considering a lot of people in Japan will be left out of the PS3 sweepstakes. But let's be realistic, this problem in Japan is not about the console or games this is cultural bias. All around the world 360 is popular but not Japan, hmmmmm!
I think the 360 after getting off to a rocky start is doing very well. I don't recall a system that has had so many 90% rated games so soon, including an RPG rated over 94% that is selling like hotcakes. How long did it take XBOX to get a great RPG?
Soooo now what's the complaint? I suppose people will still claim the games aren't diverse enough despite the fact you have games like Topspin2, Rumble Roses, Kameo, Condemned, and the LIVE Arcade games as well as games upcoming like table tennis from Rockstar? Well just hold on i'm sure those quirky titles that don't sell well anyway will be arriving before you know it.
For those of us who still like to race, shoot, and play normal games its been pretty good and is steadily getting better. B/C is getting better too with Forza, Black and Ninja Gaiden Black among other games now B/C.
Personally the game i'm most looking forward too is Test Drive, yup Test Drive! A MMORacing Game. A game that models thousands of mile of Hawaii, you can buy homes as well cars, and clothes on top of that. You can supposedly modify the cars and the game allows you to race from the accurately modeled cockpit of each car. On the fly you can setup checkpoint races. It'll be interesting to see how they can get hundreds of people driving on the same virtual track, personally I just don't see it, but i hope they can pull it off. The graphics are incredible, the cars thus far even look better than PGR3.
Really I just see things improving for 360 at least for the next solid year. This winter is going to simply belong to the 360 because there will not be a lot of PS3's nor will there be a lot of games. What is there is likely to not be better than 360 games such as Gears of War and Mass Effect. The price of the system could go down, there should be more peripherals, accessories, LIVE Arcade games and who knows Halo3 could land during or immediately after the holidays. Hopefully the movie won't suck like Doom, it seems awfully rushed to me.
The doom and gloom naysayers will continue talking trash, but it appears America isn't looking. The big question for MS is are these systems flying off the shelve because of former XBOX owners all trying to get the system or the general public or general consumers who may be new to the XBOX world also trying to get the system as well. I think it is the latter, I think 360 has hit the mainstream and it appears all of these analysts who were predicting 360 would overtake PS3 may have been right. Of course Sony will have something to say about that, but one thing is clear it will be a while before they can really get settled and start to fight. They still have a launch to get through and production and development issues to get smoothed out and then its gotta live up to the hype. Whew! By then 360 could have 10 million installed here in the states.
