I picked this up yesterday at Best Buy. I've heard a lot about the game in general, in that it's been around for a long time in Japan and elsewhere in East Asia, and that's it's super popular with Sudoku puzzle books published weekly, and so on. Sort of like cheap crossword puzzle books here, kind of.

If you see the screen shots, it looks like math puzzles, but that's not what it's about at all.Not even close. More like logic puzzles. In fact, it's quite addictive. I put a couple of hours into it last night.

I also know there's a GBA version.

It has very nice music and animated screens behind the puzzles.

Unique, weirdly soothing. Mental, not action oriented, tho there are timed challenges.

If you beat the 1,000 puzzles included, you can download more from the web.

neat stuff.

Good to know. How much was it? If it was very expensive, I'll hold out. Brain Age or Big Brain Academy or whatever it's called, coming out on the DS next month, is supposed to feature Sudoku.

Interesting coincidence, I'd never heard of Sudoku until a few weeks ago when I noticed the game in the puzzle section of one of the local news papers where I live. I haven't gotten around to trying it out yet.

It was $29. It's weird and not for everyone, that's for sure, but I sure like it. Radically different from any other puzzle game I've ever played. It's not too often something truly new and original comes out.

It does have one issue that bothers me, tho I'm getting used to it. The puzzle gets covered from time to time by a load screen. Well, sort of a load screen. Actually, it seems that data is decompressing from RAM, rather that loading from disk. either way, it breaks your concentration. But that's the only negative that I've encountered. I don't know if the GBA version does that or not.

I like the simple controls. d-pad to move the cursor, shoulder buttons to rotate the number selector, X button to select, Square to undo. It supports ad hoc play, tho I've not tried it.

I picked it up today. Figured it was time to dust off the PsP for something. I read some reviews, and the thing that did it for me was that there is a lot of strategy and training the game gives to you to help you understand the underlying structure of the puzzle-design.

This thing must be some sort of puzzle craze I hadn't noticed. Not only is it in the newspaper here, but now that I'm aware of the game, I've noticed people walking around with big Sudoku books, like those old books full of crosswords that people used to buy.

Between this game and the upcoming DS Brain Training series, maybe I can recover from some of the vegetative damage that was done to my brain (literally) by Animal Crossing. My poor skull has nothing left in it but cold, over cooked pasta.

Hehe, I was searching at Palmgear for software for my PDA, and there are lots of sudoku apps for it as well.

It's the only game I have for the PSP now, and it's got a lot of life in it, so at least the PSP will get some use.
