On the one hand it's great! You're a vampire hunter and a lot of the gameplay is directly related to being in the sun and you have to enter the date and time zone, so the game knows when the sun sets. The Metal Gear tactics of sneaking around tombs while simplistic are pretty cool. You have to conserve how much you use your vampire gun thingy so you wanna sneak around some monsters.

On the other hand, I started playing late in the evening. When it came time for the boss fight, which HAS to be in the sun, it was too late. So I had to wait til the next day.

Well for the second boss fight, it's tougher than the last so I'm outside... but... it's cloudy! I can't recharge my vampire gun fast enough cuz of the lack of sun, so I'll have to wait for another (sunny) day to beat this next boss. Artificial or indoor light does not effect the little solar panel on the cartridge, so fooling the game isn't possible. So it's hella cool... and really frustrating too.

It's got some interesting puzzles and nice level design... overall it's a great gimmick.

Yup. I read that the game was a serious pain at some points. The innovation is definitely there, however...for all those folks who complain about there not being enough innovation. Well, innovation hurts a bit, it seems.

LOL! Yeah true. It's raining today here, so yet another day I can't play. There's almost no use at all playing this game in the winter time. :p

Boktai has been getting some good reviews, and I'm thinking about picking it up. But, I am concerned about too much light on the thing. I mean, I'm in southern Arizona, and it was 106 here today.

Is the sunlight requirement a timed thing, or is there some sort of gauge to let you know when your weapon dealy is full?

I have had electronics go bad due to the heat here, so it's a legit concern. Also, when i got my GBA-SP, there was a small disclaimer that some game carts, specifically those that use external input via hardware, might be incompatible. Is this true with Boktai?

LOL! You'll love this feature then. Your weapon can overheat if youre in the sun too long. It'll actually say "over heat." The game has quite a few voice overs surprisingly... anyway, when your weapon overheats you have to go in the shade and let it cool off. If you don't and you "break" your weapon, you'll have to wait a whole day to play again.
