Hey guys,
I was looking into getting the "Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser" Keyboard and mouse. It uses "Blue Tooth 2.0" and has about 60 feet of range. Does anybody know if these types of desktops are good for gaming?

I tried an RF signal "Wireless Logitech Keybord and Mouse, all you get is about 6 feet of distance....gaming sucks.

I was under the impression that cordless mice & keyboard had all but eliminated lag & refresh issues by now. Seems its not so, at least one review indicated lag is still a problem w/Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 5000 Laser mouse. The LCD on keyboard seems a bit on the gadget side of tech, & reported to be hard to read [do I really need to view username, date, time, and temperature?]. Aside from Bluetooth potential, I think this setup is a bells & whistle add on to other wireless desktop interfaces.

Have you checked out the Logitech G7 Cordless Gaming Mouse? 2000 dpi, 6.3 megpixels per second, & huge30 by 30 pixels sensor & a 2.4ghz connection that should nix lag. Price has fallen 25% since its debut last year, but still expensive imo @ near $75!

Hmmmm! That's probably about $100 Canadian.

I checked out a bunch of reviews at work last night and came to the conclusion that even Bluetooth isn't quite up to par quite yet. I think I'll wait. Thanx for the reply ET!

Why would you need more than 6 feet of reception for a mouse, though? I would understand if you used the mouse as a remote control for media players (I do that) but for gaming I'm sure you wouldn't want to be more than 6 feet away from your monitor.

As for the blue tooth Logitech mice, the reviews I have read say the range is the real deal. They could even use the mouse from the next room. I do not know if this applies to the MX5000 in particular, and I do not have an MX5000 so I cannot verify its performance. I am perfectly happy with the new A4 Tech RBW-5 mouse I got, its pickup is flawless and never skips a beat, unlike the Logitech MX700 which has skips and jerks every now and then.

The Logitech G7 apparently is the real deal and has received nothing but praise. If you don't need a keyboard to go with it, try that one instead. Its only drawback apparently is its price.

My biggest reason for the Wireless "Blue Tooth" KB & Mouse is for playing PC games on my 27 inch TV. I have Dual Display and all I need to do is "hotkey" the windows desktop from monitor to TV. Well I had to get extension cables for my mouse and KB for playing on my couch, what a freakin' pain!
