Recommended:
3 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
1 GB System RAM
ATI X800 series, Nvidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card

Minimum System Requirements:
Windows XP
512MB System RAM
2 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor
128MB Direct3D compatible video card and DirectX 9.0 compatible driver;
8x DVD-ROM drive
4.6 GB free hard disk space
DirectX 9.0c (included)
DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
Keyboard, Mouse

This pretty much is inline with my expectations. Recommended system requirements were as I thought they would be, with a 6800-class card fitting the bill. Those recommended requirements should be enough to run the game at 30fps or so with most settings (if not all) on at 800x600.

My rig will probably push the game with most settings on at 1280x1024 at around 30fps as well. It's a bummer not to get 60fps but to get that framerate (or around it) at the settings I want (1280x1024, 8x AF, HDR, no AA and max settings) I am anticipating a sli 7800 or crossfire is required, at least.

Great, slideshow time again. Kind of reminds me of when Morrowind came out...

Oh, and you're such a graphics whore these days Mochan. ;)

Yeah, I know! And to think about 4 years ago I was pretty much the exact opposite. =_=

I think getting a decent job, a nice paycheck and thus a nice videocard has its drawbacks! When I was a student I was never this much of a graphics whore!

Guess I won't be playing Oblivion then until I get a new computer. That's fine, hurts their sales, no sweat off me. I've got plenty of other games to play, and I can play new campaigns and character in Morrowind indefinitely.

Aku, didn't you have a 2.6 Pentium or something and a 9800 Pro? That's plenty to run Oblivion. Not at the best quality of course but it'll run.

well i should have plenty to run it good.id be happy with 40-60 fps at highest settings minus the AA and AF.For some reason i just refuse to belive you will need a beefier PC to run this then Doom 3.I think there being very safe on minimum and reccomended requirements.I bet a 6600 GT runs it solid at high settings

I really doubt that. The engine has far more sophisticated technologies built into it than Doom 3. The only thing Doom 3 has over it is shadows (as Bethesda has announced that they have taken out most of the shadowing in the game). This game has HDR, parallax/displacement maps, normal maps, etc. it's going to be tougher on your GPU than Doom 3.

Yeah,
You need a top card to run it with the bells and whistles and the xbox 360 will have it all except the construction kit as well. It might be one game that will sell the 360 for those with weaker pc's.

I have high hopes and am finishing up Bloodmoon to prepare for this next installment. I might wait till I find a deal on it though as I am cheap by nature.

Bane- you gotta save up and pick up DS 2 sometime...it is really a ball. I know though...too many games..not enough time.

I recently won the expansions to GR so we can work on those later on when you get to 1st shift again. I have not had much time this week to work on Falcon but plan on doing some flying Sunday. I figure if I learn just a little each week it will be cool.

2.66 and a 6600GT. Bane, I believe you would need a beefier pc to run this than Doom 3. Based on how they coded Morrowind, I'm sure it takes twice as much machine to run this game as one that can run some other game that has even better graphics.

Bethesda has said that they have coded this one a lot better than Morrowind, but somehow you'll have to forgive me if my reaction to that is a smug snicker reaching for the salt shaker. Bethesda ain't no Id and I'd be very surprised if Oblivion ran as well as Doom 3 did.

That would be the only reason i could see it running horrible as morrowind was the most poorley coded game ive played i think.I still think if the game is even half optimized graphically you will be suprized what you will get it to run on.Considering i was getting between 40-60 fps high settings minus the AA and AF outside in farcry with a 6600 GT i dont see how oblivion would run much worse then that.I guess will just have to wait and see.I still think it will run atleast as good as Doom 3 as long as its optimized if not who knows you could get 15 FPS with a 6800 GT.Its all going to come down to whether the coding is done well or not.
