For whatever reason, I never was big on the PSX scene. I had the system, but N'64 and Dreamcast seemed to sap most of my gaming time.

Ended up selling the system for a PS2, but thanks to the insane deals you can get on PSX games on ebay, I've been looking at adding older titles to my collection. I recently acquired a copy of Vagrant Story, and have been looking at getting a copy of Symphony of the Night(after playing the sublime Aria of Sorrow on GBA.)

Obviously the early Tekkens, Twisted Metals and Tony Hawks were good back in the day, but with newer, better sequels availiable on next-gen systems, are they really worth getting? This got me thinking-What PSX games do you think are the "classics"? , the ones that still hold up in this age of Next-Gen consoles? For the gamers that have access to an XBox, GC, PS2 etc, what PSX games are still worth picking up?

Thoughts?

Well, Vagrant Story and Symphony of the Night are amazingly good.

Other classics(my personal ones, at least)

Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy Tactics
Metal Gear Solid
Xenogears
Gran Turismo 2(an amazing number of cars to choose from)
Chrono Cross
Valkrie Profile
Tekken 3(the last GREAT Tekken)
Alundra
Final Fantasy 6
Front Mission 3
Spider-Man
Star Ocean 2
Legend of Legaia

Einhander
Soul Edge (still worth getting because the fighting system is different enough from Soul Calibur and SC2 although the controller response may feel a bit stiff)
Syphon Filter 1-3 (didn't play the third one though)

That's actually the only games I'd recommend as the others like Resident Evil or MGS have or are being remade for current systems.

I would like to clear something up. The PSX is a system that is coming out soon(or already out) that is a PS2 with added features. The Playstation-PS1. Many people have confused this forever. I wonder where everyone got the ideas to call the PS1 the PSX? Anyone know?

Anyways, these are my classic PS1 titles, or at least a few of them:
Oddworld: Abes Oddesy and Abes Exodus
Einhander
Driver I, II
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Silent Hill
Final Fantasy VIII
Frogger
Tenchu

PSX is the original abbreviation for Playstation, that gamers have been using since the thing launched in '95. The PSone was a Sony-created term for the smaller Playstation that was introduced after the PS2 launched. The PSX that is coming out just happens to share the same name as the original.... maybe that means we should all start calling the first Playstation PSone, but most of us aren't that anal about names to care much
