Hi i've recently bought a laptop and was thinking of buying some games for it. Can someone please tell me what I should check on the laptop to make sure that the games will work ok.
Thanks.

What kind of video card? Also, you don't have a lot of memory, so modern 3D games and such won't be very playable. Games a little older will still be okay, assuming you have a workable video card.

Can you please tell me what memory I should have for the more up to date games and also where I can find out what video card I have.
Thanks.

1024 mb. Check the adapter tab on your display settings under control panel.

I'm not sure if this is correct but does this sound right to you.
ati mobility radeon xpress 200 series.
If so is this any good or should I change it.
Also how much would it cost for me to upgrade my ram.
Thanks.

Not familiar with RAM prices for mobile. They are a bit more expensive. That video card is next to worthless, unfortunately. The only games you'll be playing on it are really old, non-FPS ones.

Try Civ 3 and other less demanding strategy games.

Upgrading laptop hardware for gaming is usually expensive & limited in what can be done.
Common *affordable* upgrades are ram & hardrive, many laptop GPUs are integraded, & very costly to upgrade- at least when compared to desktop gaming.

As for games playable on you rig, TBS genre> Disciples2 series, Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, FPS genre> some older shooters like No One Live Forever, Undying, Project I.G.I.,
etc.

Ive played numerous games on my laptop [AMD 64 bit 3200+ & ATI 9600 GPU w/512 ram, 15.4 widescreen] but found it trying & awkward... nothing beats desktop gaming imo.
