View Full Version : Game swapping!

I was thinking with the price of games at $60 it might be a good idea to swap games amongst ourselves. This way you get the full retail value of your game and avoid getting screwed by the likes of EB and Gamestop. The only thing it would cost is shipping. Here is how it could work. Say I had PD0 and another VGR user had Quake4. We both finish the games and are interested in playing each others game. Instead of each person buying the game the other has, they each ship their game to one another. The two parties can decide before hand whether or not the swap is permanent. We can also kind of rate the trustworthiness of each member so that is someone screws someone over by not shipping the game or shipping scratchy discs then that person will get a bad rep and not be trusted again.
This probably won't work for great games such as COD2 or GOW or Oblivion, games where everyone will want to play immediately. But it might be a great thing for 2nd tier games that you aren't sure about or are just curious about.
If anyone agrees or has any further suggestions let 'er rip.

This is actually not a bad idea, especially for those who communicate frequently on LIVE and do trust each other.
Anyone know how much EB and Gamestop are giving for 360 games? I would assume it's no more than $30, which is kind of sad considering I just got that much for the PS2 version of Star Wars Battlefront II. I personally see myself getting less games when I go 360, to the point where I'll do mostly rentals.

Great idea - count me in. I trade lots of games since I buy lots of games so naturally I try to minimize the costs by trading. However videogame stores take major advantage by sometimes giving consumers half of what they'll sell them for used.
Unfortunately I just traded a couple a few weeks back and have nothing currently available for swap but I'm sure that will change in awhile.

I'm in too MG! I even have a "for instance". Like for instance if anyone might want to swap PGR3 for Condemned at some point...

Good to hear you guys are interested. Thus far we have Rogue, Fiveski, and POD. It will probably be slow going in the beginning since there aren't a lot of games out. But hopefully throughout the year we can really get the ball rolling.
Thus far I only have Perfect Dark 0 and Call of Duty 2. I'm not finished with either one. I probably will end up keeping COD2(i'm sure everyone has this game anyway). But PD0 will be available for swapping when I finish it. So far I'm about half-way through the game and I should be done in about a week.
I don't have Condemned in fact that will probably be the next game i'd get or would like to swap for, it seems Condemned is really catching on.

I'm SLOWLY (very busy lately) making my way through Condemned but can't imagine that it will have a lot of replay value after it's finished. So when I finish, I might be interested in trading it. I'll keep you posted.

I might be down with this little skeam we got going on here. I only got PGR3 and PD0 right now, and since my 360 is currently out of commission I won't be done with both of them for a good month I'd say.
If you live in Canada is shipping costs and that more expensive? I'm assuming all of you are in the US somewhere.
