Help! Stuck on Syberia II "Fish Candy"...Glitch?

Please help! I found the Youki animal and apparently he needs some fish candy. I have none since I first attmepted to give it to Malki. I went back to the candy machine to get more but I cannot. My coins are no longer in the machine because I had previously removed them. They are in my inventory. When I try to use them on the machines, it won't take them. She just keeps saying "I need some change". I have it! It just will not let me take it from inventory and put in the machine.
Is this a glitch? Do I need to start the whole game over????

Syberia games just could not hold my interest...I was really good at solving most puzzles but I just started getting so freakin' board. Walk around ask questions, rinse and repeat! Oh, And that annoying robot. I got halfway through the first game and just gave up...so, I didn't even make it to the sequel.
