Age of wonders: Shadow Magic anyone?

Just wanted to see if anyone was around for a decent strategy game-fest for an evening? We'll make it a fast, small map, with winner takes all. Who has the game? I'm getting sick of the FPS genre for now, need something different to shake up the mix. Probably be playing in the evenings of this upcoming weekend. Bad timing, I know, but what better way to spend the Christmas with a bottle of wine, and a great game at your fingertips? Let me know who's interested, and I'll set up a game.

Well I'm not particularly good at Shadow Magic and to be honest I've never tried multiplayer turn-based. Nice thing about Shadow Magic is that it's simultaneous turn-based. Regardless I don't think I have the right mentality right now for this kind of multiplayer gameplay. I'm more into RTS and FPS for this sort of thing.

Yeah, this would have been a "Who wants to play Civ IV?" thread instead, but I won't be getting that until after Christmas. It looks like the series has finally caught up with the times... I've personally always been a fantasy guy at heart, but dropping nukes on my opponents has always been of interest to me. LOL

Hey steve if its something you will play for a while i can pick it up in a few days.I had the original AOW 2 and liked it although it was a steep learning curve with me.I always wanted to try AOW 2 online if ya want i will pick up shadow magic and we could play that every so often.I also want to try Homeworld 2 online that game rocks.

AoWSM is SO much better. There's a TON of new features over and above AoW2. Unfortunately I forget what they were, but I remember when it was released, how much people were *****ing between the vast differences between the two. So far, playing in a game would be you be, my wife, and myself. Any others? Like I said, I only want it to play for an evening, in leiu of a whole night of multiple maps in a single FPS. Something we could pull off in a few hours tops. I really don't have much time to commit to games these days.

The only other game *I* (not the wife) would be up for other than AoW would be Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow MP, I hear it's really good, but have never tried it.

AoW:S.M. has become my all time fav strategy game, likely my all time SP game period.
Ive gotten more mileage out of this one than any other, Age of Wonders II Heaven has rekindled interest with new maps. Try this one in SP for warm ups. Battle for Creation [play as "Emperor Diff]:
