Ok I've gone through Legend of Heroes, Kingdom of Paradise and I'm nearing the end of Popolocrois. Anyboby else pick up anything they like? Tokobots for instance?

I got the new PSM yesterday in the mail, and according to them, it does not look like a lot is coming around anytime soon. Early next year is a different story, however.

How was Legend of Heroes? I'm thinking about that one after finishing Popolocrois.

How was Popolocrois? I noted the reviews were mediocre, but that doesn't necessarily mean much. How much random-battle is there?

Also, you said there was going to start being software next year. Are there any better RPG's on the way to hold off for?

I find Popolocrois to be a very nice RPG. It does have random battles, but early on you get a spell to nix enemy appearances if you want. It is a game world unto itself, very original, IMO. There's no particular element that shines, but the overall feel will keep you going. In general, I break RPGs into three categories, those that you want to finish, those that you feel obligated to finish, and those that you can't bring yourself to finish. Popolocrois is definitely in the first category, though it is not without issues (mainly too many load pauses). But, it does have a 1st class sound track, and a great story line that keeps you going. For me, random battles are acceptable as long as you don't have to keep doing them in the same areas to level up, and Popolocrois is ok in that way. A mellow difficulty level. Compared to the only true RPG on the DS, Lunar: Dragon Song, Popolocrois is awesome.

Bottom line, I would buy it again without hesitation. I cannot say that about Lunar on the DS.

There's a ton of stuff coming out for the PSP in the first quarter of next year, though.

Thanks for the info on Popolocrois. Also, I don't get Playstation Magazine, and haven't seen much about PsP in the multisystem mags. You wouldn't mind listing a few of the standout titles coming early next year would you?

Popolocrois gets a big thumbs up from me as well.

Legend of Heroes is a pretty average game with an ok battle system that overall is easy to play through until the last few bosses. Since it does not have random battles it's tempting to skip a lot of fights and the weaker monsters will actually display a blue icon and run from you. Neutral monsters (green icon) are about equal in strength and a red icon means a monster is stronger than you. What I found was the monsters in caves and ruins dealt out way more experience so I usually skipped most battles and power leveled in the caves and ruins, and I just barely made it by the last boss. Which is fine. I prefer strategy to just power leveling.

Where the game shines is how it handles character relationships and how they grow and change. They are likable and stick with you and that kept my interest through the whole thing. That's handled extremely well, despite a poor translation. Spelling and grammatical errors are plentiful.

Like Popolocrois there's no map in the true sense, but it has signs marking the way, but it's pretty easy to find your way around. Overall I'd give it a 7 out of 10 give or take a 10th of a point or two.

I thought my subscription had run out, but after reading your post I checked and I did get the latest PSM. My last one. I'll check it out tonight.

After all the popolocrois recommendations, I went out and got. . . . Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories. Big mainstream game. . . but can't help it, I love the series, and it translated pretty damned well to the small screen.

I'm just not tired of driving around, exploring, listening to satirical talk radio, and killing people.
