Okay, now that XBox 360s have been out for a while, can someone who has one tell me if the 360 is doing Anisotropic Filtering on its games?
Thanks

Of course it can. 360 can do anything. Right now, it's even writing the new Iraqi constitution ... in HIGH DEFINITION !!!!!
Sorry, my Xbot chip was set to fanboy mode. Let me reset it ...
OK, you gonna have to explain that term to me first. Then I might be able to answer your quesiton.

Hmm... it's a bit hard to explain in words. Let me see if I can find a good screenshot to explain it.

Okay, check this image out:

Notice how blurred the floor becomes at the higher part (the one at a more severe oblique angle from your line of sight) due to how the floor angle at that distance is flattter than the floor closer to you.
With Anisotropic filtering on, the blurring effect is lessened (screenshot at the bottom).
When you're used to it, you can notice if AF is on or off easily. Almost all the screenshots I've seen for the 360 don't have AF, that's why I'm curious to know whether the final product uses it or not.

I dug up a screenshot for the 360:

Notice where the enemy soldier above is crouching? The ground underneath him does not have AF. Is your real game experience similar to that?

Correct. THere is no AF in the actual game. I'm playing COD2 right now,

Ah, that is sad to know. But on the other hand, it gives me more firepower in PC vs. 360 topics, hahaha!
