Now what?

Seriously.?

OK, it's cool to have it. I got to look at it and check out the new case style. I like the opaque green cases by the way. A tad lighter in color than XBOX cases yet also clear.

The game disc looks the same. No blue-ray or nothing obviously. Upon flipping the disc over however and checking out it's guts if you will - looked pretty full to me. Lots of content on this bad boy. No implications intended to DVD9's not having enough disc space. Won't really be an issue in my opinion until a couple years from now when games start pushing the systems much, much more.

Same old instruction manual

On the back of the game packaging a new warning label: "Read instruction manual for information about photosensitive seizures and other important safety and health information" The word warning highlighted in orange. Hmm. This must be a serious game ;) The Big N has had these types of warnings displayed on packaging for years now where PS2 and XBOX were more subtle about it. The whole inside cover of Kameo's game manual is another warning. Sheesh.

A couple interesting facts about Kameo I noticed when perusing the packaging:
A) Co-op 2 player - looks to be just split screen however
B) Online leaderboards - did not know that. I like those!
C) Even though the 360 is launching simultaneously all over the globe, Kameo is NTSC coded.

As you can tell, I'm anxious to start playing this game among the few other 360 titles I pre-ordered.

From what I've read, online co-op will be made available after launch as a download. I've got it ordered as well, but I'm in no rush to pick it up if EB calls, what the hell do I do with it?

I wonder if MS is willing to announce Kameo as a launch title NOW. What do you think?

No surprise about the leaderboards here. I had read a while back that all 360 games are going to have some kind of Live aware so that everyone who plays on Live will be able to see everyone else's accomplishments for the games that they own. A cool idea, IMO. I think it might help to hook you up with marketplace cash also, but I could be wrong about that one.

From what I understand, you are exactly correct. The more achievements you complete in a given game, the more market cash you are awarded.

I saw Kameo in stores at my local Gamestop. I thought about trading in for it, but since I'm not getting a 360 until next year, I didn't want it to just sit around for a few months.

Good call. Otherwise you'd probably stare at it and feel more inclined to buy a 360 sooner.

I didn't initially understand why the game was released 3 weeks ahead of launch, but now I get it. With all the excitement and buzz surrounding this launch, isn't it possible that folks want to buy anything 360 related they can gets their hands on while they wait another couple weeks in anticipation?

My prediction is that Kameo will sell a ton of copies just for being the first game available for people to buy (not including the fact that it looks like a great game to boot). Or maybe it's a combination of both those factors that will help it sell well before 11/22. Pretty smart to release it so soon in my estimation!

MS seem like idiots at one moment and geniuses at others.

Idiots- bad, stupid, zen-type comments by 360 front & center men. Those same folks not understanding the industry very well constantly inserting foot in mouth. No full backwards compatibility out of the box. Core system, huh?

Geniuses- Smart marketing (kiosks in stores ahead of launch helping to generate buzz and word of mouth & releasing games ahead of time to increase buzz and promote more game sales), Intelligence and planning to know that launching early is important even if you're now a little less powerful than the competition (yet to be proven as fact but certainly looking like this strategy is going to help them sell more hardware in the first year than the last gen).

I had read the IGN article too. There's obviously not a whole lot to report yet, but there is one thing in particular I was looking for: word on the control layout. That is the biggest reservation I have with the game (and with PDZ too) - that Rare frequently employs bizarre control-schemes - which is something that I'm sensitive too - and as such I don't trust them. IGN says the scheme is "simple"...

One thing that remained was the simple control scheme that had carried over from the original GameCube layout. This is the same setup you'll see on 360, making the game incredibly accessible thanks to combat relying almost only on the triggers.

... but what can you tell me about it Fiver? (I can't read that image of the manual.)

With regards to the packaging and the box art... I'm glad they got rid of the orange Xbox Live stripe; now all games will look the same from the box-art spine. Oh I like the orange-stripe - when it's used properly. But there were too many games that sported it that shoudn't have - imo. Games like Chronicles of Riddick and Prince of Persia 2, just to name a couple. I guess I only really like it on games that feature on-line multiplayer modes. Well, there is going to be even more to Xbox Live for the 360 than there was for the current Xbox, so the lines to seperate what's an "Xbox Live game" and what isn't - and what game warrants an orange-stripe and what doesn't - are going to get a lot fuzzier. Best to just get rid of it entirely.

However, now I see that they've got "Xbox Live" printed in the upper-right corner on the face of some boxes - but not on others - which, again, is kind of dumb, I think... but I guess it's not that big a deal, because it's in a position that's, really, hardly noticeable.

Left & Right Triggers = character specific attacks & abilities
B,X,Y= morph into warriors (hold down for warrior wheel)
A= action (context sensitive); morph back into Kameo; scroll text; confirm menu option

Like that article stated, the control scheme certainly seems simple.

Thanks.

Simple... but awkward. I don't know tho'... we'll see...

From the demo of Kameo that I played at EB, the controls were pretty simple. I didn't get a chance to attack except when I was the boxing plant, and I was able to use the triggers to jab (L), jab (L), right cross (R) a few of the enemies. For some reason, I didn't want to play the game for long....I want it to feel new whenever I do get to play the full version.

Alright, it's official: my area SUCKS for videogames.

The stores in my area never seem to get the games I want in time. Yeah, okay, cool, they've got Kameo in already, but they've been tardy for just about everything else. Sometimes, ridiculously so. Hunter, you told me over a week ago that Fable: The Lost Chapters was now on shelves... are you sure? Because I still haven't found it - nonody has it around here.

I still haven't seen the 360-PC contoller available anywhere.

I still haven't seen a 360 System-Demo-Display anywhere.

Really? I saw the game in stores here on a Friday in late October. I even had it for a day before my Xbox broke. I would have thought it would have shown up everywhere by now.
