For everyone whos looking for some extra credit to go towards thier 360 or its games, head over to EB, I just got $145 in credit for like 9 games and a bunch of them were only worth 3 or 4 bucks! the 31 % thing ended before I could get there, but they have this other promotion where if you trade in a game towards a 360, they bump up the rate. So like a
game like Brute Force was worth 2 bucks, but they bump it up to $10.
So I pretty much traded all my games in except two because they couldn't take my Xbox because the seal had been broken because I had opened it to fix it so now I'm selling it personally for $70 with a game (anyone interested?). And they were unable to guarentee me a 360 on day one because of all the deposits that were put down. So anyway for all those games that you haven't touched in months, go trade them now! you can also give in the dvd kit and controllers and that stuff as well.

I wonder if the U.S. EBs will have a similar deal starting in November.
Down here, EB has a deal (that ends today) that if you trade in 3 or more games, you get 25% extra credit for each. It really comes in handy when an Xbox stops working, and it's useless to keep games that may not be b/c.

The 31% deal is still in effect, it ends today, but its for the entire month of october. Basically, games under $10 in credit value are raised to $10, games under $20 but over $10 are raised to $20. Good deal if you have a lot of older titles with very low resale value like old sports titles and whatnot. This deal iis for purchase of a hardware system only. I took advantage of the 31% deal, took stuff worth $140 got bumped to $183 in credit. EB canada has had a number of good promotions. This current promotion is sitll in effect. How long it lasts, who knows.

Actually the deal I got wasn't that 31% thing. When I got there yesterday one of the guys quickly told me that the 31% promotion ended the day before so I was kinda like f***. But then I told them that I was trading in some games to put towards my 360 and they said that the deal they were giving me, which sounds like the price bumping that Waco mentioned, would actually work more in my favour. So regardless of what deal I got, it worked out pretty well. And by the way those Dvd kits are actually worth more than most games! $15 and the majority of my games were like $3 $4, $7 something like that, and because of the deal I managed to get $145 in credit.

Hmmm. Maybe it's just me, but I have emotional attachments to many of my games. I would rather keep a game than sell it. You never know when you may crave playing an old game. And it often happens for me when I am cleaning my room (which happens maybe once a year) or if I'm moving and am unpacking stuff. It happened a while ago and I started playing some oldschool Tony Hawk games for the PS1. Then I busted out some Metropolis Street racer.
Similar thing is happening to me with my music. I finally took the plunge and became a coorporate tool .... yeah, I bought the new 5G iPod with a 60GB hardrive. Now I am in the process of transferring (or importing) all my CD's into digital music files and then putting them onto the iPod. As a storage device for music, this thing is freakin great. I am sorting the CDs on my floor as I am going through this process and there are stacks of CDs that will now be available on one tiny little iPod. I won't have to rummage for CDs anymore. But, back to my original point: as I am digging through all my stuff I am finding CD's that I had forgotten about and a few I thought I had lost. It's like fining hidden treasure. There are CD's that I thought about trading in at one time, but am glad I did not. Because trying to get back an old CD that I once had is far more difficult than when I bought it years ago. The added benefit of some money for selling a CD is not worth it to me.
And an another tangent .... It's amazing to see how similar Apple is to Nintendo. They sell you this cute little handheld device and then you slowly realize that these guys are not making money from the device itself ... the money it being made in all the accesories. They'll sell you the device, but in reality the device by itself is not all that functional. You need the car adapter, recharger, carrying case, the games (or music), the docking station, etc etc etc. Buying and iPod is so similar to when I bought my GBA-SP. I spent almost as much money on the accesories as I did the console itself.

No, I know what you mean, thats why it was hard for me to trade in some games, Halo, and DOA 3 were probably the hardest. And thats actually the reason why I kept Halo 2 though, thats gotta be the most memorable gaming experience I've ever had. Do you guys know how or when I'll be able to play Halo 2 on the 360?

See, that's the problem. As far as I know, Microsoft hasn't released specific details about backwards compatability for which games and how that's gonna go down. They've just given vaigue promises.

If I was a betting man, I would put money on Halo 2 being available to play on the 360 on day 1. Though the b/c list may not be official until the day before launch, I just don't see MS not having their flagship series playable, especially since they just released a Halo triple pack with both games and the expansion pack.

Hell, I would bet that Halo is going to be b/c, but just a little bit of cash. I'd put that title to have better odds than quite a few games that I would like to see b/c, but probably won't.

Some sites are speculating that Bungie is going back and improving Halo2 for 360. Not that you will need to buy a new Halo2, the improved code will be on the HDD. It is supposedly going to add things like 720p and better framerates. Bungie declined to comment. But I believe it is going to happen to this game and a number of other games.
