I've only played it about three hours, but this game is solid. It rocks! It is a complex RPG, but NO RANDOM BATTLES!!! Battles are optional, unusual and unique gameplay mechanics, great semi-oldschool 2D but higher detail and more colorful graphics, and killer music and sound effects, especially with earbuds. I'll do a real review here after I put some more time into it. The levels are huge, I gotta get a strat guide.

I have heard good reader reviews about this game, IGN and GS don't seem very kind however!

When I think of those 'professional' reviewers, I imagine a desk piled high with games, and them spending 12-15 hours a day going through them as fast as they can to write reviews. I take everything they write with a grain of salt. Dragon Song is tailor made for the DS. One thing I'm finding out is that it's likely going to be a long playing game, maybe even as long as La Pucelle (though Dragon is not a strat RPG). I have almost 16 hours in it and still have my original two characters, and am still on the first continent (there are four, and I think another that can be unlocked). I'll be writing a review soon.
