Peter Moore has said that initiatives such as premium content downloads will offer great "value for money" for Xbox 360 consumers. .... However, he predicted that many games may be offered in limited edition bundles, similar to the already announced Perfect Dark Zero bundle, which costs an additional $10 but adds a significant amount of bonus content to the title, and that premium downloads costing "maybe another $5" will also be a key strategy for publishers.

Great... we will get "value for our money" by paying $5-$10 more for content that should have been in the original package in the first place. You gotta love market segmentation and the XBox 360 is all over it with "premium packages" and "limited editions" and all that crap.

Well, on the plus side, it's better than PC games that release a $20 expansion pack.

Well, why not?

M$ is already going to release a standard and "premium" 360 skus, why wouldn't they push standard and "premium" game releases too? They know their hardcore fans will lap up anything they perceive as "extra value."

Come on with the hate fellas. Premium game editions have been coming out for a while now. There were several this gen but since MS is doing it they are the ones who get the blame?

Yes, this is one of the real reasons I brought it up. Premium SKU, and premium games? Plus this idiot Peter Moore has the gall to say it's "value for your money." WTF? Premium releases have always been "not value for your money." Basically you're just paying more for extras like a shiny box or maybe some panties included in the DVD case or a little trinket included for kicks. They're not value, the value is in getting the "value pack" game not the "premium game."

I know premium releases have been coming out before but not like this. A premium game package usually includes extras like this, like maybe the game OST on an extra CD, a figurine of the main character, stuff like that. Not extra levels or extra game content. And certainly downloading this content for a fee isn't value! It's highway robbery. Extra content like that should be free unless it's a full blown expansion pack.

And even expansion packs are almost never value for your money (basically you pay an extra $20 or so for a few extra levels and items, and a few new enemies). It's hard for me to justify calling it "value for your money." It's a PR spin to make it sound like you're getting more when actually you're not.

Again, why come up with two versions of a game? One version a "crippled" version without all the content they developed, for standard price, and one a "premium" version over the regular price with all the content that should have been included in the standard version. It's highway robbery, not value for your money.

You can get them both completely for free over LIVE or be an idiot and pay for them in the store. Ohhhhh MS you are so daaaaaaamn EEEEEEEEvil and sneaky.

Hmm I wonder over the years how many extra levels and maps you've been able to download from Sony's network. Hmmmmm I'll bet I can count them with my UNIT. But i've got a better idea, let's go buy a Ps2 hdd, or maybe wait around for the online GT4. Maybe they will release a patch on their network to make the game playable online.

You're delightfully missing the point, yet again.
