Hey some of you all's post are getting way too long. Try this when you post something sit back and read the whole post to yourself. And decide wheather or not you would want to read a post from someone else that's that long.

I would think it depends on what is being discussed, some people here, don't post as often as others and if the subject is of particular interest to them I'd like to think that they would want to write a post of substance. In general I agree though, unless one is using quotes and the like their points should not be exhaustingly excessive.

No they're not. You shut your mouth Jupiter X.
And while you're here, tell the same to Waco. Seeing him spaz out is funny and all but two paragraphs in and I'm ready to hit the snooze button.

I know i'm guilty of this, but I type fast as hell and I don't really feel like editing things, I mean this ain't a term paper. But i'll try and be more succinct. See only two sentences, well three including this one.

You actually read those long A$$ posts? I just usually skip over them.

Actually, the long-assed posts are mainly the ones I read, because there's content, or at least fleshed-out opinions. I skip over the short-assed ones because they are usually just a smart-assed interjection, and if I wanted comedy, I'd watch South Park.
With the exceptions of Renz's one liners that is.
So keep it coming Waco; disagree or not, it's still better than 90% of the retarded crap "professional" game journalists are publishing.

You have got to be kidding me Gadfly. Waco's long assed posts, lately, has been mostly shallow, unfleshed-out opinions. If a long post starts with "You moron....", or "You idiot....", or any other of his insults that Waco usually starts with then I can't help but skip over them. I'll agree with you maybe 2 to 3 months ago, or maybe even longer(who knows), before Waco started on his "defend the 360 at all costs" tirade.
Lastly, there is nothing wrong with these short-assed interjection. It keeps this place from falling into the vast fiery pit of boredom. If I really want a well thought out opinion and nothing but serious debates I'll read the newspaper.

Waco's been a little off his game lately. But frankly, I want more smack-talk and name calling thrown in the mix. Like you say, "serious" is for the newspapers. At sys wars, I want contenious, impassioned rhetoric, clever gotcha's, and creative names mixed in with substantive debate about games, the industry, the culture, whatever. When Sys Wars is able to achieve that--and it occasionally does--it's why it's still one of the more entertaining game forums, even if its a shadow of it's earlier, less moderated self. Long-assed posts or short.

Classic, I"m a genius to the sony fanboyz when I defended the honor of the ps2 with my long assed posts, callling out and taking on the xbot hordes which I did virtually on my own. Waco you da man, but now when I take sony to task with their smoke and mirrors show and take a relatively unbiased view of the 360, I'm now writing shallow and unfleshed out opinions. LMAO! Oh, the hypocrisy of the sony milk drinking contigent of which mandork is a charter member. Ack, ack, ack.

I gotta say that I enjoy reading the long posts more than the short ones. I don't post much when I'm here, and when I do, it's never to argue, but I do like to read what every one else has to say. Most of the time I'm lost because I know nothing of what hdmi or sku or multi-threaded or any of that dilly-dally, but I've been picking up some of it here and there. Almost all of the time I'm on here I'm just reading the arguments on SW. It's mainly a good read, even though sometimes I feel like I'm reading a different language.
Keep it coming, I say!

lol,I remember the good 'ol days as well, we were basically our own moderators, and the one liners were a lot more poplular you just had to type "nm" or "nt" at the end of them, or sometimes not because you wanted to piss off the reader even more.
As far as the longivity goes, I don't really mind taking the few minutes to read a well written post, and I also enjoy the one liners too, just sometimes if you don't paragraph your post its more of a struggle to read and frustrates the eyes.

Flip sides again though and watch the Xbots flip out. It's classic; GF78 aka Enforcer changed sides several times; if you think the Sony guys are coming at you, just watch what happens when you stop praising MS consoles.

Based on the amount of bugs that have been occuring lately, the amount of trolls soliciting their crappy websites, and the amount of insults that have been hurling around here - I'm beginning to wonder if anyone is actually running this joint anymore.

Like Trebor said above nobody ever claimed you were a genius. Care to provide a link to the contrary? In fact I never really liked the way you handled your posts since the beginning. Insults are fine if you place them in wittingly, but you just came off as an arrogant know it all even when you were defending the PS2. Also its not that hard to defend the PS2. Its the clear victor in todays generation. What is there to defend? But when you started to defend the 360 it was clear that you have to really dig deep into your barrel of illogical stuff to try and defend your console of choice. But hey you don't care right?

I don't mind long posts sometimes, but gee, once in a while you guys really get in a groove with the keyboard. :D
Next time I see a 10 paragraph post followed by two or more 10 paragraph posts, I'll have to bookmark it and save it for another day.
I guess I would rather see long posts than none at all.

The thing that sometimes gets me is when someone makes a long post, and then the person after replies to that post with a long one of their own, but they also quote the whole of the first post. There's no need for that, as the first post can be read already. Snip it down a little, is all I'm asking.
And post more pics!!!! HA-HA!
but they also quote the whole of the first post. There's no need for that
Agreed. That really annoys me actually. If your post is immediately after the post you're replying to there's no need to quote it at all. Unless you're responding point-by-point (which is usually unnecessary anyway), in which case quote one point at a time with your reply underneath.
That's my opinion on the matter anyway...

Well, in defense of using quotes, lately this forum has been so freaking buggy that you almost HAVE to use quotes in order to guarantee that the poster you're responding to will know your responding to them.
As in, I've seen posts with quotes end up above the post they are responding to because of the forum glitches.
Or maybe it's just that everyone has become a psychic lately, I'm not sure.

Time travel, actually, in order to quote people before they post.
You know how bud slows time down--and you think its just your own perceptions being altered? If the bud's good enough it actually warps the space-time continuum around you. Surely you've noticed how you can make people around you "stoned" if you are. ;)
That's why its illegal.
Wanna experience psychic phenomenon, that's what shrooms are for. But all the people last year who were saying that Bush administration policies were gutting the national infrastructure and displacing necessary first responders like the national guard--and that these policies were making us LESS safe--they weren't time traveling, psychic, or on shrooms. It doesn't take any of those things to see the bloody obvious doom-trail down which we were merrily skipping.
