Well, the Next Generation is about start! Microsoft is detonating the launch this time, they are coming in strong, and aggression is their tune. Bill is invading Japan with a vengeance, trying to dethrone Sony. Although it seems as though Sony is going for the "More Power" with PS3 plus they already have Japanese and N/A Support. I think the X360 will indeed be allot stronger then its predecessor, in the Land of the Rising Sun, but not enough to budge PS3 over there! Here in N/A I think X360 might have a really strong edge against Sony this time. Although, Sony is still strong, they have that household name, yet they are in for a big battle and I hope they reign victorious!

Where does this leave Nintendo? Well, we have all sorts of blogs that have spread over the web like wildfire, boasting everything from the new "highly secretive" controller, Pics of games, developer support and so on. Anticipation is key here for the big "N". This is their way of doing it. Instead of aggression, instead of promising unspeakable power, they are simply using our minds as a weapon. Think about it! As a kid, how did you feel the week before Christmas? Your Birthday?, Getting off the Jet and going to Disney world? Anticipation my friends, the unknown is very intriguing to us and Nintendo knows this!!!

Most of us, it seems are not all that stoked about the next generation! But mark my words, when the release of these hot new systems draws closer, and we see the ads and even the systems in the flesh? Excitement will peak!

In the end, all disputes aside, what really matters is the pure happiness and contentment of the individual gamer and what he chooses!

Well, the Next Generation has already arrived on the handhelds. Personally, until I know more about all 3 of the Next Gen consoles, the DS and the PSP will have me excited enough.

Aside from M$ not having a handheld system, I'm waiting to see if the DS and the PSP will be good representations of what Nintendo and Sony will be doing with their home consoles.

With the DS, Nintendo is stressing creativity and innovative gameplay, in a affordable and straight forward package. WiFi online play and unique control schemes are other things the DS has brought to the table. So this is where I see the Revolution going - creative and unique gameplay, innovative control schemes, and an accessable online plan.

With the PSP, Sony is going the brute force route, with massive graphics capablilities, and all-in-one functionality. It's obvious, from what we know, that the PS3 will be a brute force system, all-in-one entertainment device. My only question is the games, will the PS3 breathe new life into the Sony camp and have new, exciting games released, or will it be like the PSP and be an extension of what they already offer.

I'm not sure I will be, though. I'm getting to be really jaded about gaming, and graphics just don't get me salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs any more. I'm not jumping through any hoops just because MS and Sony are releasing new power houses, and I'm not seeing the anything original or fresh from either of them yet.

I'm actually considering sticking to PC and handhelds; DS has blown me away unlike any gaming device I can think of.

But it's possible the Rev might inspire; with the DS, Nintendo's renewed vitality and commitment to originality and game-play--if they can take that energy and momentum and inspiration and carry it over into their next console, I will be along for the ride.

I'm of the same opinion as Gadfly. I'm having way too much fun with the DS and PSP, and the PC has always delivered for me. I don't have any reason to upgrade to the PS3 or Xbox360 since most of the games I want for it are gonna be coming to the comp with added modding capabilities, why should I spend the cash just to play the same titles on another system?

The only one that has me remotely interested is the Rev. I don't know enough about it to decide if I want one or not, but what I've heard does sound interesting.

It's wierd, Sony seems to be taking Microsofts "Last Gen" approach for "This Gen", turning the tables as it were! Sony will launch about 6 months to a year after M$, Sony seems to be going for all out graphical splendor and as you put it "Brute Force". I think PS3 will not do quite as well as PS2, yet Xbox 360 will improve greatly, thus narrowing the gap...yet PS3 will still come out on top!

This coming generation still feels a lilttle rushed to me. Though all three consoles probably wont be out for another year and a half. I fell off heavily with my gaming and looking for time to catch up now. There is just too much crap out there. And they're just throwing more crap on top of us with the PSP and the DS. Now we must draw our attention to the the ever anticipated 360, PS3, and Revy. Ughh, frankly speaking I'm tired of all of it. I've been away from VGR for a while and I'm on like video game overload! Just a little rant..... ;) carry on.

Well, it's good to have you back...and to see you've started gaming once again! :)
