Has anyone seen this? It looks like parts of the movie are going to be based on First Person Perspective just like in the game. I don't know how well it will work in the movie but the few parts of the movie shown in this perspective were interesting. It makes you wonder when FPS games will reach this level of detail in-game. And when it does its almost a given that the high capacity that Blu-ray offers will not be enough to handle that amount of data. I just hope that it will be happen within my lifetime.

FPMovie? I gotta see that. I think it'll happen in our lifetime, when we reach 10GB Video Card memory or something. As long as civilization doesn't meltdown and destroy itself, it'll happen in our lifetimes.

Yup. A FP movie(parts of it). The movie seem to be staying true to the game for some parts that were shown. It almost felt like I was watching a very High Res version of Doom3 especially when they were showing the intro to the mars base.
There was a 2-3 second shot of a Pinky-demon in FP and the marine was holding a Chain Saw. It was so cool.

Something like the walking parts in reqium for a dream? Is the movie live actors or CG? Also do you have a link to the trailor?

I downloaded the trailer at fileplanet. I'm not sure if its available anywhere else. From what I saw the the demons were most likely CG but the weapons, actors and the corridors in FP were real. One thing I noticed after seeing it again is how when in FP the movements were too smooth. Almost like they are on rails instead of walking. But eh, I just hope they pull it off and not ruin the Doom title.

Well they ruined the Doom title with those atrocious Doom novels they released ten years ago.

Maybe it was an ironic comment on the linear nature of the gameplay in Doom 3.

Doom 3 may very well be linear but its supposed to be based on the original Doom only with souped up graphics, sound, etc...
Should they have placed players in the jungle, city, or any other wide-open environment? Sure wouldn't have felt like the original corrider-filled Doom if that were the case! Its not like ID wasn't forthright when selling or advertising the game. I don't recall them stating it would be more open ended than previous versions of Doom.
Thats the beauty of gaming now-a-days. So many different titles to choose from allows picky gamers to be selective. If someone, for example, is looking for a more wide-open FPS they could simply choose one of hundreds of FPS offerings that meets that specific criteria.

Doom 1 had a lot of wide open environments. Doom 2 had even more.
SHUT UP AND GO AWAY DOOM HATA!
It was a throwaway comment dude. I didn't intend it to be a critical analysis of the game or anything.

Sorry. I've read lots of Doom3 hating lately and I inadvertently lumped you in with those folks. The game is certainly more linear than most but overall I really enjoyed the title.
