20th Century Fox & Universal studios hacked out a deal to pay Microsoft $5 million and a cut of ticket sales for the rights to make a Halo movie. This is something Hollywood has been after since summer of '02 [not surprising].
Universal spokesman [Paul Pflug], said Fox & Universal studios were aiming for a summer 2007 release of a movie based on Halo and Halo 2, a sci-fi gaming series about an alien-fighting warrior named Master Chief.

So how faithful & coherent will the Halo movie be? Will Hollywood follow the games storyline or will they alter it as they did say....Alien vs Predator? How much input will Bungie have?
And what of the rumors that Ridley Scott [of Alien fame] having "passed" on offer of Halo movie, that would say something........

Well, AvP was based on Hollywood movies, so the AvP movie wasn't really based on the game. I'm sure they got the idea from the game, but that's about the only connection between the two. Halo is different since it is a movie that really is based on a game. It also goes to show once again how Hollywood is ruled by a bunch of illiterate, vapid-headed hucksters. How much great sci-fi literature has there been over the years? I can't count all the great stories I've read that would make great movies. But, people in Hollywood don't know how to read, though they sure know about video games! At least you'd think they'd pick a game that would make a great film - like Thief. Half-Life would also make a cool movie. Far Cry too. Well, I guess that's no different than making a Halo movie. Oh, whatever.

AvP the comic preceded the game. Or so I am told...

Oh, and Aku.Far Cry movie? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0400426/combined) That's small fry. I could show you things (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0460780/combined) you wouldn't believe (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383222/combined).

Uwe Boll must have felt confident about the potential of Far Cry as a movie considering he bought the rights to it BEFORE the game was released!

Now Dungeon Siege as an epic fantasy, that would be one to catch....assuming the storyline was beefed up.

Any bets on the box office success of Halo? I bet opening day/weekend will positive due to core audience of sci-fi goers, but will fizzle after first week.
