After further noodling, I finally found a way to play the game with some effectiveness. I have to have the DS propped up on my lap or my belly, and use the stylus. There is absolutely no way I'd be able to use the right trigger button, so it's good that it doesn't require you to. But on a game like Rogue Agent, where both trigger buttons are used, the game would be unplayable for me.

Did you notice the list Alymer posted has MPH pushed back to 2006? I wondered if they were having problems with it, but saw the speculation over at Nintendojo that maybe the lengthy delay is a decision to include wi-fi. This would be really smart. . . at least, I doubt I'm the only gamer that this would be a make or break deal. I would ONLY buy this game if it contains wi-fi online options.

What makes Metroid Prime Hunters problematic is the morphball. . . you not only have to switch weapons, but switch shape. But what DID work extremely well is being able to use the stylus to replace the mouse, to aim directly with the touch screen, and then tap to target/shoot.

In a standard FPS where you weren't also having to use buttons for morphball shape shifting, to me, the DS is should prove the superior game experience for portable online FPS games over the PSP. Having a second screen for map/radar to locate other players to kill, combined with the MUCH faster and more accurate movement afforded by the touch screen is, I'm certain, a better game experience than the larger screen/better graphics of the PsP, which unfortutely stunts your movement ability with no dual-analog. If Consoles are less than ideal for FPS, then PsP is downright awful.

Rare is currently seeking feedback from gamers at its website as to what it should be developing for the DS. I voted for Perfect Dark Online for the reasons I listed above. I also suggested the make something actually original and new and GOOD. Anyway, it would be cool if more voices would head over to Rare's site and suggest PD for DS. . . or any other Rare title you'd like to see make an appearance.

I'm banking on online WiFi support for Hunters as well. Considering it's really a multiplayer FPS game, it HAS to be supported online, otherwise I don't see the draw.

I think Perfect Dark would work pretty well on the DS, seeing as how that game was playable with only 1 analog stick and 1 trigger, especially for me for reasons quoted above. Conker, with an online mp mode, would be pretty sweet as well.

Also, don't forget Blizzard - they're conducting a poll on their site to see if people would be interested in Diablo 2 on PSP or DS and Starcraft on DS exclusively. Don't know about you, but I'd be in heaven if they released Starcraft on the DS.

The official site confirmed that the game is being developed for Nintendo's online wireless network.

With the extra development time to clean up control and graphics, and the addition of online, this title might turn out to be really cool after all.

All I can say is. . . holy crap. . . this title has me hooked again. If you haven't check out the video clips of the six different bounty hunters at www.metroidhunters.com yet. . .do so asap. Each one of these guys looks like they could use Master Chief for toilet paper (sorry, couldn't help myself.) All 6 are different species; Sylus, Noxus, Spire, Trace, Kanden, Weavel. Sorry if this is old news to anyone; I'd stopped following this game a while back, combination of Metroid burnout, problematic game play, and that this title was original not going to include wi-fi. FINALLY. . . Nintendo actually listened to fan feedback.

There is some footage of in-game play, but most of the six clips are of cut-scenes, and MY GOD, I'm not generally much for cut-scenes, but I had no idea the DS was going to produce graphics of this kind of quality. I did a google search on "video compression DS" to see if I could find anything, and I dredged up this old bit of news that I missed--Metroid Hunters is using the same video-compression technology that allows for 90 minute movies to fit on 32MB cartridges:
