So is everybody ready? Ready for the biggest week in Nintendo history!?
Well, okay, second biggest week in Nintendo history. As big as I think Nintendogs, Advance Wars DS and the effects of the recent price-cut of the DS will be, I doubt it'll be as big as the week the GBA-SP and Zelda:Wind Waker came out.
But still, I can't remember the last time Nintendo released two killer apps in the same week - let alone the same day. (Not including Pokemon games, I mean.)
And that day is tomorrow. August 24. Are you in? Are you excited? Which game are you getting?

Well, I already bought a copy of Lab & Friends, and have every intention of buying AW DS in the future, so "both" is my answer.
By the by, if any of you are married, or have a live in gf, hide your copy of Nintendogs from them. My wife pretty much took over my DS and started up the game already! So far as I can tell, you can only have one true "save" in the game, but you're allowed up to 3 dogs.
She picked a Corgie and named it "Ein". :)

I was going to get both, but I didn't pre-order Nintendogs and they were sold out of everything but a few copies of Chihuahua. My answer to the poll is get both, but if you have to choose between them, I'd say Advance Wars. . .its a full on game, one of the best handheld series ever made, and after spending some time with it, the touch interface/data display make over streamlines the game as much as I'd hoped and predicted.
I do have a copy of Nintendogs in the house; my wife got Lab and Friends for her DS; the dog she got is a Shiba Inu. . . she named it Nori. When/if I get around to getting myself a dog, I may have to stick with the sushi themed names and call mine Unagi.
I wonder if any of the guys got this game and then felt a little self-conscious/fruity about "talking" to their DS. It was kinda trippy watching her go through the process of teaching the dog it's name. My real dog looked kinda pissed and irritated; he could hear the other dog on the DS, and my wife was calling its name in the same tone of voice she calls our real dog. The damn dog (the DS one) really is freaking cute. . .you would HAVE to be really secure with your manhood to play with this thing. Honestly, I still may get myself a Golden Retreiver, but this is the first game that even I wouldn't play in public.
Freaking hilarious.

I had no choice to buy a second DS. This is the first game system she's taken serious interest in (she was obsessed with Ps2's Culdcept, and AC on GC, but it didn't translate into interest in the system or into seeking other games.)
It started with the puzzle game Zoo Keeper, then Wario Ware, and I just couldn't ever play it when she was home so I got a second one. I bought a second DS when Meteos came out. Now she's pre-ordering her own games and even reads my game mags now looking for DS stuff.
I never expected that the DS would transform her into a gaming fiend.

I shouldn't say "took over my DS" so much as "ripped my DS from out of my hands".
Your initial advice to buy a DS now and a Onyx/Black DS later when it's released was very sound, because I can already see that my wife and I might be fighting over the DS quite a bit in the coming months - especially when AC is released.
On the other hand, she won't be fighting me to play on the Cube so much now - since she'll be occupied with Lab & Friends for who knows how long.

Biggest week in Nintendo history? So you like the release of a pet sim and a handheld sequel over the release of the original NES or maybe the week that Mario 64 came out?
Anyway, I'm getting both. I already have Dachshund and Friends, but I did not have a chance to buy my Pug yet. It will definately be a female named Madge if it is a fawn Pug---named after the woman in the old Palmolive commercials. However, if they shock the hell outta me and there is a black Pug in the game then it will be a female named Wilona---after Wilona Wood from Good Times. I have not gotten Advance Wars yet, but something tells me that it will happen this weekend.

How about Princess Peach. . . . that way the "Prince" part of your name stays intact, so we can remember who you are.

Don't you worry about that. If I ever change my name and avatar everyone will know exactly who I am. Remember a while back when it was all the rage around here to attempt to hide your identity? Well I just think that is a pretty sad and silly little game. I mean what is the point?
Hey btw I hate to change the subject, and you can PM me a response if you wish but what did you think of the final Six Feet Under? Dude I hated it. It was like they forgot everything that made the show the best show on tv during the course of the year, and crammed an imposter into one final episode. I was really pissed. In fact, I thought that the final Sex and the City was actually better, and that sucked raw.

Ah yes, the true mark of a man who has a wife or live in gf/fiance - exposure to Sex in the City. I thought the last episode of that was pretty terrible, but on the other hand, Carrie is my least favorite character, so any heavy Carrie episode is pretty terrible.
Plus, Desperate Housewives - I've been subjected to Desperate Housewives and damned if I'm not hooked. :p

I watched the last two episodes together on the same night, so maybe that blunted the effect for me. I liked it; the ending fit thematically, and did what it needed to do. It wasn't perfect, and I'm guessing maybe the "closure" they gave each character might have been problematic; but at the same time, it was their classic dark humor, and I didn't take the Flash-Forward deaths seriously, but just the imagined possible futures spinning out in Clare's imagination as she crossed the desert for NY. There's more specific--break down each bit anaylis--but as you say, that would be best for a PM.
I will say one other thing; I also liked it because I think it showed in a natural and realistic way people coming out of the other side of grief; not getting over it, but growing from it.
Mostly I was just sad to see my favorite show die.

All that I can say is wow---I'm really surprised that you liked it. There was a point about 40 minutes in where my finacee and I just looked at each other in complete dismay.

Exactly, and let me tell you how you know if your wife/gf/fiancee loves you. If the same woman that subjected you to all that Sex in the City sits by your side and watches Entourage with you. Entourage is Sex and the City for men. Btw-Carries was my least favorite character of the big three too, but of all the characters it was that damned Alexandr Petrofsky hands down. He was just awful.
You know I have been meaning to check out Desperate Housewives. It is hard to argue with anything that Marcia Cross is in. I have been stalking her since Melrose Place, but sadly, I don't have HBO on demand, so Sunday night belongs to HBO.

I haven't partaken of Entourage, but if it is as good as Sex in the City, but geared towards men, it might be good. Of course, my wife puts up with Xplay on G4TV about 6 hours a day, so I'm pretty sure she loves me. ;)
Dude, unfortunately ABC effed up the schedule for the replay of Desperate Housewives, so I missed about 9 episodes, but it could almost be my favorite live-action show these days. It's like a cross between Friends and Twin Peaks, with married/divorced women as the "friends" and a picturesque suburb as the "Twin Peaks". Season 1 will be released on DVD on September 20th, I believe - it's definitely worth a rent.

Dog people and cat people living together...!
I thought you were going to hold out for Nintendcats?
Eh, I decided not to wait either. :p I chose "Both!" as well. Can you believe that?! Me? With Nintendogs?! It's crazy.

Luckily(?) I decided to stop in CompUSA on my lunch today, otherwise I probably would've missed out. I got the last copy.
It was the Chihuaha one. If I had a choice in the matter I would've picked Lab, but oh well - this one does have the German Shepherd "Dog" (like, wtf is up with that "dog" part, you know? like, no duh it's a dog!). Funny thing is, is that if all they would've had was the Dachsund one... I would've passed.

Yeah, no doubt the release of each and every one of their systems would tie for greatest day. Along with Wind Waker. But I didn't say biggest day, or biggest month - I said biggest week. Come on, you can play along... Besides, this week deserves some hype, doesn't it? (I'm trying, sheesh!)

I mostly bought it for my wife, but I have to admit that it's a pretty cool little...eh...puppy sim. Plus those graphics! Good gravy it's a pretty looking game.
Not to mention, it's the closest I'll ever come to being a dog owner.

I got bit by a dog just a little under 2 weeks ago. If I ended up getting Nintendogs I'd end up torturing the little bastard cuz one of his kin took a chunk out of my leg and made me get a Tetanus shot.
And Tetanus shots are the only medication I'm allergic to. I don't even wanna talk about what happened the day after. Stupid freaking dogs.
