Longest Journey Game Crashes?

Anybody else having major problems with the game crashing every time you save?

Three things to try.

First, and I think this will do the trick is to apply the patch for The Longest Journey. http://www.longestjourney.com/help/patches/
It has a patch for games crashing from sound cards while saving games.

If that doesn't do it:

Try using the .exe file from the c drive instead of the desktop short cut. See if that helps.

If that doesn't work, and if you are running XP try running in compatibility mode.


Right-click on the <CODE>.exe</CODE> file for longest journey, and choose 'Properties' from the menu.
Select the 'Compatibility' tab.
In the 'Compatibility mode' section, select the 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:' box. Select 'Windows 95'.

I was dissapointed with the Lucas Arts site. They used to package their old adventure games, so you could, say, buy a bunch of the Monkey Island games together. Now, they don't even seem to sell their older games. You would think that they would always keep a small supply of their old classic games in stock.
