I just hate it when games don't support Mouse Button 4 and 5. I just installed Call of Duty and no MB4 support. Yikes! Usually I use it for firing mode swapping and I'm extremely used to this, it's just annoying when they don't support it.

A few rare games support 4 but not 5 (really weird!) like Far Cry.

Well anyway does anyone know any tricks that let you use MB4 and 5 when the game doesn't natively let you?

Have you tried installing installing the actual drivers for your mouse? I know it sounds stupid but sometimes that works. As an alternative, if you already have the drivers for your mouse intsalled, try uninstalling them and using the default Windows drivers.

I have a logitech keyboard and mouse on my PC, but I still prefer to use the base windows drivers instead of the Logitech drivers that were on the discs, they just seem to work better for some reason.

Yeah, I installed the drivers at first and they screwed up. Sometimes they woudl let me use M4 and M5, often they wouldn't. So I uninstalled them and this time some games work with M4 adn M5, and some don't. It's a bit of a no-win situation. I decided to stick with the default Windows drivers since they seem to work with more games.

I too came to the same conclusion you did; I am also using a Logitech mouse (the MX700 to be exact) and the default Windows drivers work better. It's really just a case of the game dev making sure to include M4 and M5 support, they are just DirectX functions. Problem I guess is some devs are still stuck in the stone age using two button mice. At least all devs have made it standard pretty much to include mousewheel and M3 support but M4 and M5 are still out of the common sense of some devs.
