I downloaded the Japanese 2.00 to my flash stick using my jump drive today, installed (in the PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder, reboot and viola! 2.0 rules!! If you don't already know the features, here's a few...

New Browser built into the "dashboard", actually, I went to showmyip.com with my PSP and it said I was actually using Mozilla PSP Browser. No lie! This browser is sweet.

WPA encryption added.

The ability to save images to mem stick as well as swap (wirelessly) them from PSP to PSP

better volume as a media player

You can now choose your wallpaper

Those are the biggest I can think of now, but there are more minute additions as well.

Glad I updated, very nice indeed. I'd suggest everyone else with a PSP update ASAP.

Updated as well, but I'd advise others to wait for the NA update release which is dated august 12th. The japanese firmware update violates your warranty. As it is, I have a product replacement plan with EB, and I wouldn't be making use of sony's warranty to begin with, so its not a factor for me, but it might be for others.

FYI, if you use any homebrew software on your psp, the v.200 update will render it null and void.

I'm most pleased that it now supports more file types besides Mp3 and Jpeg; especially with images I've got an unorganized mess of jpg, bmp, tiff, gif, whatever. I just wanted to be able to stick pictures on there without worrying about which file type they were.

Anyone taken the browser for a spin yet? I'm going to try it out later today, see what it's like. This is a feature the DS should figure out a way to include; with the ability to display info AND include a touch-type keypad on the bottom screen, this would blow away the tedious cell-phone style numerical entry. Anyone know, if the browser's any good, if the usb port will at some point support a mini-keypad peripheral?

Slowest, most painful browsing experience since the days of 14.4 modems.

My connection to the network was 78% which is ok, so I'm not sure why so slow. Does anyone know if the thing uses empty mem card space for caching or something? I only have 15 spare MB and thought maybe that would account for it.

Because if there's not something else going on, and this is how the browser works, its pitiful. Was able to log into VGR but kept timing out when I tried to post (wanted to just post a few words. . . just for the hell of saying "I've posted here using a PsP" ---lame, yes, but something to do to test out the browser functions anyway.

Unfortunately no, the browser uses the psp's own internal memory which is 512KB to just over 2MB. But even that doesn't seem to help. I've read setting it to no cache helps, but I barely notice the difference.

There is still some hope for the homebrew/emulation scene. A few clever folks have found a few weaknesses in v.200 and are working to exploit it. Also a few people have supposedly found ways to revert back to an earlier version of the bios as well.

It's not over with yet. Maybe one day soon I'll be able to play Landstalker on my PSP.

Anything new on that, Renz? I really want to play newer games like Pursuit Force and G&G and Tekken and GTA, but I don't want to lose my emulation forever.

I've even been entertaining the idea of getting me another PSP just to play the newer games, but my girlfriend isn't having any of that.

How will she know? Just hide the one you aren't using.

There are apps that let you run 2.00+ games on 1.5 out there. Just check out PSP Emu (http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/) for info on it. Plus a few people have managed to get homebrew games working on bios 2.6 using an exploit with GTA savegame files.

You still have plenty of options, though some require a bit of knowhow to get to work.
