I've been putting some hours into this great game again after my last attempt got corrupted saves about a year ago. An excellent rpg.
Anyway, my question is, how do you charm your items? I can't seem to do it. First I tried just putting the charm I want over the weapon and nothing happened. I then learned the enchant weapon skill (first level) in the warrior path and again no luck. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or if there is a special trick to this?

It's been awhile since I've played, but you charm items by clicking on them, or double clicking, which brings up a panel. On the panel you will see slots into which charms may be inserted. Just drag and drop, but know that once you insert a charm, it's permanent.

Yeah, DD has a problem with corrupt save files. I was able to recover by retreating to an older save, because I always maintain a series of saves when I play a game. And when a save file goes bad, other save files near it also tend to be damaged. You have to be able to go back and find an undamaged file.

Thanks, Sparrow. I'll give it a try.

If you haven't patched your game yet, you can cheat with charms by opening many charm slots and you can place a charm in each one of them. So you can charm your item with like 50 charms and make yourself invincible.

LOL, no, I already patched it. newest patch is supposed to help with currupted saves which ruined the original experience for me. I'm also saving alot more older games now too. Anyway, I find on my current path of mostly mage the game is easy enough. No real challenges yet as I am chewing my way quickly through orcs and basically clearing out the map before i really get into the story and campaign.
still, great game though. i'm currently on level twenty one and having a blast.

I know about that charm cheat, but you don't even need to use it...

*SPOILER* At one point in the game you'll get an uber-weapon which literally steam-rollers through any and all opposition -- kind of helpful for the endgame clickfest.

Which weapon was that again? I forget.

It's the weapon you get from the holy items quest: sword, dagger or amulet. Stats are randomly generated, but they're usually pretty kick-ass. I got a holy sword with freezing ability which basically means the first time it hits it freezes pretty much any enemy which gives you time to sit back and hack them to bits at your leisure. Even when swarmed by Orcs this thing cuts through them like nobody's business.

well, I tried clicking on the item, a quarterstaff with charm quality 3, and nothing happens. no panel comes up or anything. if I right click on it, the whole inventory panel simply closes. any thoughts?
