Ok guys. I need some of your experiences to pull through here. I've been out of touch as far as which brand HD is better nowadays. I currently have a WD 120GB and its starting to get faulty. Every time I play CS:Source, BF2, and HL2 it makes this random clicking sound which in turn causes the games to pause for a few seconds then run again. Is it about to die on me? Is this normal? I've scanned it for errors but found none. Weird but I think I will need to replace it.

Question is which drive should I get. I've been reading a lot of good things about Hitachi drives but those are the most expensive. Price to size ratio is 1:1. Is this worth it? Or should I stick with WD, Maxtors, or Seagates? Thanks for any help I can get.

Dunno a thing about Hitachi. But it is probably good. Among the three, get Seagate. Seagate is currently the best of the three "mainstream" drives, and further it is the most quiet --> the Barracuda IV series uses some kind of liquid bearing which is allegedly the most quiet you can get on a HD today on the open market. I can attest to this; Maxtor drives are NOISY while my Barracuda is almost totally silent. My PC fans are louder and the real issue is it vibrates to cause noise on the case.

Dunno abotu Western Digital though but experts agree Seagate is the most silent, and a great brand to boot. Maxtor tends to bust more nowadays (before Seagate had this dubious reputation before the Barracuda line, and Quantum and Maxtor were the choice).
