That was a lot of fun, despite some problems.

Main beef is that the vegetation didn't look convincing. But it was still nice jungle combat most of the time. The tunnel missions. THE TUNNEL MISSIONS. The first one wasn't so bad but the 2nd one was hell.

The dark maps were great but sometimes I'd go blind from all the muzzle fire and having to aim while seeing it. Performance was pretty crappy all things considered (for the graphics) but I attribute it to the enemy and team AI, which was relatively smart.

Hated how some guns had some freaking huge sights that gave me a headache, like the Winchester, which should have been my favorite gun. Zooming with the sniper rifles was a headache and I usually couldn't see what I zoomed in at in the first place after zooming. That you had to hold the aim button down all the time grated on my pinky.

Still I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, which is more than I can say for a lot of other games, FPS or not. It's basically the game Ghost Recon should have been if it had a stronger single player story-driven component. All in all a great game.

Okay now for Fist Alpha.

See, I told you it was good. Sniping is a pain, but the jungle isn'talways a great place for sniping. Let me know how you do the last mission in Fist Alpha. I quit trying in frustration - it's a stealth mission, and an annoying one at that.

I just finished the first two missions of Fist Alpha. Then I decided to try Multiplayer. I got on a server playing Three Canyons and there was one guy there named Dry Aku. I wonder if that was you?

I eventually got auto-kicked for having a high ping. Now to try another server.

No, just an imposter. I haven't gone on there in awhile. I used to play as "Blutarsky".

The Multiplayer looks really fun but unfortunately I keep getting kicked off for high ping. It sucks! Also it's kinda cool how multiplayer disables your crosshairs.

I'm at the 3rd mission of Fist Alpha and all I can say is I'm losing interest in the game. I think there are two main factors to this:

1.) Fist Alpha's performance is quite poor even on my PC. There are times when frame rate dips to 20 or so, I think mostly thanks to Fist Alpha's maps and slightly improved graphics. It's a pain. Especially since the way the Vietcong engine works, it is quite jerky. At 60fps or more it isn't too noticeable but when it chugs to 30 or less the jerkiness is very apparent and it literally gives me a headache. That's why I can't seem to keep playing the game nonstop, my head hurts.

2.) I hate SFC Douglas! He sucks! I hate his voice! I hate his accent! His cowboy style and I hate his face! I just hate him! Hawkins was kinda cool to play but I just hate Douglas! It's hard to get into the game now that my avatar is this boring schmuck. Dang. Also I miss Nhut, I don't like the new point man too much.

All in all it was quite disappointing, I just can't get into it thanks to Douglas.

Yes, Douglas is a big letdown after the cool Hawkins (he was kind of like if Garrett from Thief had been transplanted in Vietnam). I liked Nhut too. Fist Alpha ran pretty good on my machine, but I probably had it on medium settings.

I tried removing Anti Aliasing and AF but no discernable change in framerate occured. Checking the FPS with the ingame check removing 4x AA and 16x AF only resulted in like a 1-2FPS increase so I decided to just keep them on. It only occurs in some parts of a map where you have a large view distance and some weird angles but otherwise I stay in the 60s range. It's still very playable but as Bane said, I'm an FPS whore! Also the problem is that similar parts in the main game had wide sweeping areas too but the FPS never suffered.

In the third mission with the helicopter swoop the FPS was so bad (probably around 20) that I had trouble aiming at the VCs on the ground, similar helicopter mission in the main game (the hill mission) gave me no hiccups.

But I can take FPS hits, I just can't take Douglas! Man he just sucks. I can't say it enough!
