I'm going nuts playing nothing but FPS games!!! I can only think of 2 RPGs that came out for the PC this year, and one of them is an FPS and the other is an unplayable beta release! Oh wait... the FPS was pretty much also a beta. =_=
I can't stand it, I need to play a PC-style RPG. I tried some console RPGs but they're a different kind of game and aren't slaking my thirst for a good PC RPG. What the **** is it with this god damn RPG drought it's driving me nuts!!!
Oh wait, yeah, there was that thing called Guild Wars wasn't there? HEHEHE.

Have you tried Divine Divinity yet??Its a couple years old but underrated IMO,Its like Diablo 2 only it does everything better IMO.The voice acting is kinda flakey though but the music is great. If you havent tried it i highley reccomend it even for people who hated diablo 2

I've been trying some free to play online rpgs, Anarchy Online is still the better of the bunch. Earlier today I tried Project Entropia and boy does it suck, its the king of suckingness. Its free to play, but you have to spend vast amounts of real life money to get game credit to buy weapons and armor, without them you can't do anything so really in fact, its still a pay-to-play game.
I tried runescape and thats painfully slow to do anything. Come on NWN & Oblivion the rpg market is dying for something good to come along. I've semi stopped playing Guild Wars since I got bored of doing the same thing over again.

Ive been looking to get some online Baldersgate 2 games going if anyones interested.I never got to try it online
The dirth of single player RPGs is pretty bad. I can count on one hand the number of good single player RPGs that have come out since BG 2. Every year there should be at least a couple of good new ones, but there aren't any. I'm sick of just replaying Morrowind with new mods to get my RPG fix.

Get Gothic II: Night of the Raven!
And for those of you that *****ed up a storm about G2's voice acting, the german voices are far better.

NWN is still going strong in my camp. Any of you guys out there that want to continue the games we had on the Neversummer server, just let me know... It's fast-paced, don't require much playtime to get into it, and the roleplaying is fairly shallow. Then there's the hardcore servers though... heh. THAT'S another story.

It's sad about Beyond Divinity, actually. Divine Divinity was such a good game that I thought Beyond would certainly be good as well. The reviews said it was "more of the same" (which it wasn't) so I thought it was a safe buy, I got it the moment it came out without hesitation, starved as I was for an RPG, and man did it bomb so bad, I totally regret the purchase.
Baldur's Gate 2 has online? That reminds me I never played Throne of Bhaal. Maybe I should install this old game w/ expansion since I'm really desperate for an RPG.
Gothic II: Night of the Raven is an expansion? Hadn't heard of it. Maybe I'll try that too. Though I wonder maybe I should finish up my Gothic II game instead?
Steve, my bro is still playing NWN (was playing it just last night). But he's only playing the single player campaigns, hehe.

Try a game called "Arx Fatalis". It is not quite up there with the likes of Morrowind, Baulders Gate or Gothic. But it is a good old fashion dungeon crawl none the less. While the voice acting is a little weak, it is still enjoyable (In an old school sort of way)
Arx is a first person RPG which reminds me of an older game called Ultima Underworld...but with Morrowind style visuals! Check it out!
Also try an older game called PlaneScape Torment...this game is very cool!

.
Yes BG 2 has online although its like a direct connect type thing.Ill read up on it more in the next few days.
Ya with all the games ive tried out latley i havent found any i can actually finish or even want to.I like GTA Sanandreas but some of the missions are so frustrating ill try them a few times then quit right away.I played evercrack for all of a week till i got bored with it.Its not a bad game just im sick of MMORPG,S for now.
Im going to reinstall Baldersgate as i got near the end before my Hardrive took a crap a few years back.I also have TOB expansion as well.Im sure ill beable to stick with this game as i always like the baldersgate series probably my favorite Single player RPG outside Planescape and Morrowind.
Also im thinking of reinstalling Age of Mythology might even take that online once i get use to it again.Im also looking into reinstalling Age of Wonders wizards throne.Played that for a while but never got the hang of all of it.I just know its one tough arse game for me.Heck i bet that would be fun online to

I picked up a copy of Kult: Heretic Kingdoms in ebx for a decent price, and so far, its not a bad old skool rpg, kinder reminds me of old diablo 1 style gameplay.
Multiplayer BG2 would be interesting, but I don't have it and I haven't seen it second hand in my local stores, I could pick a copy up on ebay if you guys would set up a mp game?

Arx? Yeah I got that a long time ago. I love the spellcasting system. Could have used more fleshing out in the skill system though... just like Gothic.
Bane, you up for a game of Age of Mythology? I used to be a mean hustler. Co-op or deathmatch is fine though my bro usually plays co-op with me against hordse of CPU opponents. I'm also game for Coop BG2 but I don't have the Bhaal expansion.

God, I don't understand that! The SP is fine if you want to test a build... but again, once you find a good online server... you're hooked. Anyway, I'm still looking forward to NWN2, and fully plan on creating my own Persistant World.
Concerning BD... I found that it wasn't TOO bad. The music from Kirill though felt rushed and almost non-existant. Granted I put it aside until they fix the Battleground Dungeons, but the core game was pretty reminiscent of DD. Just a note: there IS a Divine Divinity 2 coming, BD was not its' successor, spiritually maybe, but not directly, nor plot-wise. The patch is out now, so I'll have to fire it up and take another peek.
Arx Fatalis was a total BORE.

Arx suffered from too little character development options, and too little actual NPC/story interaction and too much dungeon crawling. It's a little too close to the original Underworld for its own good, except it didn't have the in-depth character options (which hurt it a lot), and it really did spend too much time on combat and dungeon crawling, even more than UW did.
BD suffered from having graphics which, amazingly, weren't even as good as DD. Must be the close-up and size of the characters that made all the blockiness obvious. It also suffered from having a crappy setting... just jumping around in hellish dimensions, it lost the feel of the traditional "Ultima world exploration" that made DD good. Having a Death Knight chained to you all the time also limited your game a lot (and the bastard was a deadweight at times) making it less fun that it shoud have been.
Anyway I'm waiting on DD2, these German games are improving a lot and giving the US games a run for their money. Gothic 3 ditto, and I'm also going to give Arx2 a shake.
I should probably try playing NWN on a good server, it's high time I did. I've been judging the game only on its solo game, which frankly is a pile of turd.

Yup, the NWN OC sucked, though the expansions IMO are worthwhile.
PS- Larian (DD) is a Belgian developer.
Check these out: http://www.larian.com/nextgen.php . DD2 maybe? Sweet!

First time I saw the DD2 screenshots. Those look sweet. Those kinds of graphics are actually achievable this gen, well I just hope the game comes out soon.
EDIT: funny, Larian is also going to use Gamebryo and Speedtree. Same as Bethesda, lol. Looks like Larian is trying to offer itself up as a rival to Elder Scrolls as well.

Oh, wow, just noticed something. Those are INDEED DD2 screens. Verdistis anyone? Heh. Excellent. Now hopefully they don't screw it up and still retain the same character customization that DD and DB contained.

Yup, that's why I thought it was a DD2 screen even though they said it was a screen of their "next gen engine." The Verdistis signpost gave it away!

I am actually dissapointed with the screen shots of DD 2.That was one game i always thought would keep the over the top view. This game looks like it will be similar to morrowind and Gothic with the view persepectives.Im not dissapointed with how good they look im just dissapointed cause i liked the way the original felt old school but yet new at the same time.
Now with these new screens im seeing will we even feel like were in the same world as the original??I mean its fine that most rpg,s are going to first and third person behind view but i hope a few will stick with over the top views as well.

The other issue is that DD was basically a Diablo-type hack and slash game. This kind of perspective will make it play more like Dungeon Siege and Darkstone. We we shall see. I agree that I like DD to retain its old-school feel. DD felt like Ultima VII meets Diablo. Well if this game still retains the Ultima VII style world interactivity and some Diablo-esque action I'll be happy.

Has anybody ever heard of anything like this?

Not the one about the hybrid. It's cuz this entire board is practically deserted cuz the regulars are off playing Guild Wars.

I liked GW a whole lot till a certain patch came and ruined it for me.Vendors selling rare items is ridiculous to say the least. The main reason to play a mmorpg is a sense of accomplishment and the patch took that all away.I guess they cleared alot of the bugs from what my g/f tells me but seems how you can buy your way to the best items in the game is a huge turn off.I dont want to buy the best armor i want to earn it by finding rare crafting material but now you can just buy rare crafting material.Might not be a big deal to some of you but this one thing made me quit playing it.They took all the customation fun out of it by doing this.

HDs are cheap nowadays, not a bad option.
I tried out Kult, it's a pretty interesting and enjoyable game despite having truly outdated graphics. I anticipate I will be playing this for a couple of days and it might end up being the next Divine Divinity for me.

Told ya :) Belive in the gaming knowledge of the fuzzy bear :P As for Guild Wars, the game is good but after a few months it does get repetitive and a little boring, and Bane is right about the vendors offering rare resources etc....this is having a huge negative effect on the economy of the game, essentially making it less an rpg and more into RPcounterstrike since thats all is whats left with the game once you complete it, pvp all the way. I maxed out 3 of my characters and there really isn't much else for me to do, except try and farm runes....oh wait, now you can buy any rune from the vendors, and farming for rare weapons is extremely boring since hardly anything drops, even in the harder areas like Fissure of Woe or the Underworld, if anything drops chances are you'll not get it, or it will suck anyway.

For me, World of Warcraft is just sickeningly addictive. Been cruising around the Molten Core and Onyxia. Those are challenging to say the least.
I agree with everything I read about Divine Divinity. I shot off a review on it when it first was introduced. I loved it, really enjoyed that game. I loaded up the demo for Beyond Divinity and wasn't sure it was even the same company that produced it. I never bought it because it wasn't very good.
I'm seriously considering a respin of Morrowind with the X-paks.

Ya i agree WoW is a great game although after playing it a while you start to see the limited charecter development.Once you seen one warrior you seen them all and i think that is what NWN did the best. You could have a party of 8 warriors and none of them were even remotley the same. You had so many options to upgrade any of the charecters you made.I never really got tired of the different combinations you could use to make a warrior and that part of the game never got old. What did get old though were eventually it all looked the same after a year of playing it.

Morrowind...I am brutally addicted to this game now but I was not fond of Morrowind at first, I originally had the PC version. I found the combat really lousy and the enimies were hard to kill, the environments while big, seemed too big leaving the player lost most of the time! However I thought I would give it another chance, so I bought the "Game of the Year" Edition of Morrowind on Xbox which includes "Tribunal and Blood Moon". Also you can adjust the difficulty...which makes a world of difference in the game!

Man your missing out on so much since you converted to the Xbox version of Morrowind. All the mods for the pc version really adds a heck of alot to the game.I would suggest if you enjoy the xbox version to repurchase the pc version for the mods alone. You could probably find Morrowind with both expansions for $ 19.99.Heck even the better bodies and better head mods adds soo much to the game by itself, not to mention the hundreds if not thousands of other mods

For some reason Morrowind originally used to run fine but then started to run like a$$ on my PC, and It far exceeds the reqirements!
It's weird really, but while looking around in the outside environments, the control was great, but when I went indoors, I got all this lag from my mouse while trying to turn around or look around...it was like the mouse sensitivity was moving to Zero on its own, this would happen only indoors!
I patched this game to latest version, I updated my vidcard drivers, motherboard drivers. Morrowind just did not seem to like my PC for some reason or maybe it was a virus...I dunno  I grabbed the X version and it runs smooth.

Arx Fatalis also had to be converted to my Xbox.
The first problem was with the saves. I would load up my most recent save and all I would get is my character standing there in the dark with no inventory. I checked the save files and there were copied folders containing the original saves and the original folders were blank...I fixed it by cutting and pasting the saves back in the original folders!
Weirder still! During the 3rd misson (The Invesigation) If I went to the goblin kingdom, it would suddenly revert back to the beginning of the game where you are surrounded in blue light and then get dragged to your cell and have to find your way out. Yet the goblin that was dragging me would be moving in the opposite direction while I was being dragged in the other. The beginning tutorials would pop up all over again and all the goblins would start attacking me...yet I still had all my inventory collected from the previous missions....soon after that the game would crash and all I would get is a blue screen!
I figured screw this...I will get the Xbox version. PCs can be trying at times
I would recommend Guild Wars for anyone wanting a fun MMO like game without having to pay any monthly fees. I got 300 plus hours out of it...
I am back in NwN playing on the Neversummer server with SBS and having a ball. I didn't realize there was so much to the multiplayer fun. It is far under rated !
