In what may end up being a trend for PSP games, Sony has released downloadable content for WipEout Pure. The first Gamma pack includes a new track (Staten Park) a new ship (Tigron) and the Pirhana Team skin. The whole package is a little under 4 mb.
Mini review:
It looks like d/l content is going to be filed under a different class. The Staten park track is by itself in a new "Gamma" class, but the menu shows 4 total tracks, so it looks like 3 more will be added at some point.
Staten Park is kinda "meh." Visually it's excellent, one of the best looking tracks out there, but the course is neither long nor difficult. In fact, it's probably the easiest track in the game, which is a shame considering that many of the people who are going to download this are WipEout vets looking for a new challenge. The track does however, integrate into the game quite well. You earn medals and unlock artwork the way you do with any other track. I unlocked Madrashee while playing this track, so the only difference between this and a original track is that it loads off the card, not the disc.
The new ship is okay. It's pretty balanced, so it doesn't really set itself apart from the others other than looks.
Overall: worth downloading. Worth keeping if you have the memory card space. If I lacked the funds for a bigger card and needed save space, this would be the first to go however.
