Everything looks fine accept the dialup modem.I highley doubt it will be playable on a 56k modem.

I dunno about that. The GPU looks like it would blow an aneurism trying to run BF2. That GPU isn't even fit to run last year's games. It'll do fine on 2002 to maybe 2003 games but no more than that. I wouldn't touch an X300 if I could help it. That thing is so weak, it doesn't even have active cooling.

Ya i didnt notice the graphics card all i seen was 128 mb then figured it was good enough.I tried the demo on my rig with everything turned up and i have to say im suprized it plays so smooth. All i have to say is bring on Oblivion baby!!!

I'll rely on you to tell me whether your rig can run Oblivion, so if I am having trouble I have a good estimate of what hardware to get to run it right.

K will do,although i doubt id get the 60 fps on oblivion with all settings on high id be more then happy with 30 fps though.Even know Oblivion looks so good i have doubts that it will take a beefier system then it takes to run BF 2.Especially since theres so many explosions and so much happening on screen at one time.I dont want to get ahead of myself but i honestly think i will have no probblems at all running Oblivion on high unless ofcourse the graphics are crappily optimized like morrowind was.Heck i still only get about 50-60 fps on morrowind when in reality i should get 100 FPS easy.So its going to come down to how well optimized the graphics are if its bad i might get 5 fps who knows. its kinda up in the air right now i guess.

Heh, my computer still gets 20fps in Balmora. =_= I get 100 easy indoors though but in those big outdoor cities with lots of NPCs it dips to 20 easy. I get 40-50 in wilderness though.

So you think BF2 will be harder to run than Oblivion? Your PC does BF2 easy right? Maybe I should get BF2 to check how my PC does on modern games. What are your benches for BF2? I'd like to get a better idea of how my PC stands for tomorrow's games.

Well Bethsoft said they optimized Oblivion better and made it a lot more scalable so we'll have to wait and see. My concern is not really the graphics; the graphics should be just like any other next gen game. The real performance hog will probably be the Radiant AI, which means we'll be needing a lot of CPU muscle and possibly lots of fast memory and bandwidth.

I may end up upgrading just my mobo and CPU. My only problem is that my Radeon is AGP, and ideally I would like to upgrade to a PCI Ex board but I feel my Radeon has some life left in it, and I don't feel like spending $200 on a GPU when I upgrade unless I'm going all the way (as in I end up buying a totally new system!). Hmm maybe I'll enter that raffle for a new GeCube video card, maybe I'll win. They're raffling an RX800 XL.

My sugguestion is only to change the RAM, get at least a GiG.

I have basically the same config., AMD 3000+ etc
But my RAm is 384 MB, and its long to Load.
So get at least 1024 MB, its pretty cheap, like $80

Im thinking hard about buying a geforce 6800 ultra 256 mb as the prices are starting to drop.ive seen them for 330$.Thinking once they drop to 300$ ill sell my 6600 GT off and buy the 6800 ultra.I might as well maximize what i got instead of trying to build another one.Buying a 6800 Ultra should extend my pc life for another year.Im thinking with that i should beable to top 65 k easily in aquamarks, and as much as i like my 6600 GT im still not getting the most out of my pc overall because of it.

You might want to check out Newegg, the flag day sales I see there are ridiculously cheap. They were selling a 19" LCD (8ms) for like $200. Dang, 6800 Ultras for $330? They're still selling 6800 GTs for $390 here. I wanna buy a new comp. =_=

By the way, I'm thinking of picking up Battle Field 2. I'm getting the "demo" version right now to check whether the system performance and internet connection speed will be good enough to warrant me buying the game. How does BF2 run on your PC Bane? On what settings do you get a good 60+fps?

I don't want a repeat of UT2K4 where I bought the game but can't really play since I get such high pings.

I had to run the game at 1024/768 to get a 60 fps average with no AA or anything of that nature.Running it at 1280/1024 which i dont usually play it at anyways i stuck it at around 50 fps, with no AA.I could see it dropping to 30 fps with alot of things happening onscreen at once but to me thats very acceptable.

I would deff compare these graphics to farcry not quite as colorful but BF is a war game so still has that gritty feel to it.The charecter models are deff better in BF and so are the looks of the vehicles and the buildings. Also the guns look better as well.I maybe be picking this one up in the next few days as its out here now.

You also have to remember i have alot of crap on my pc to and i think a reformatt might get me somewhat better performance then this even

Hah, my PC hasn't been reformatted in like 2 maybe 3 years. Looks like I'll have to play this on 1024x768 without AA. Dang! When's the last time I played without AA? I still played Far Cry with 2xAA. Currently playing San Andreas with 6x AA.

Well tweaking settings is no biggie. The real issue for me I guess is whether I can get a good ping rate.

You could set most settings to medium then try AA.I had all settings on max with the exception of no AA.

Nah, I'd rather have high settings and no AA, than med settings with AA. If the game is fast-paced, you usually don't notice the aliasing much anyway.
