It's fairly good, if you're a bit Zelda fan then you're sure to like it. Thing is, the time centric gameplay shifts the focus from exploring and finding secrets to trying to figure out the best approach to take so you can maximize the time you have available.

It'd different, does alot of stuff really well, and it's the weirdest of all the Zelda games as far as art and story goes..but I can see why it's not the overall favorite because it can be more than bit frustrating at times.

I played Majora for awhile, never finished it. Maybe I should go back and finish it.

But really, it was frustrating and hard to get a good sense of purpose. And graphically it was identical to Ocarina. . . they just recycled the base structure and stuck some other gameplay around it.

However, there are many people who swear by this game, and feel it was better than Ocarina even, in challenge, story, and originality. Perhaps it was. When I' play a Zelda game, I'm looking for a pretty mainstream core experience.

That's what I think Nintendo's getting ready to do with its sequel to Windwaker---pump out a quick second game on the same graphics engine to eak a few more bucks out of this system, and on the next Nintendo system we'll see a graphically realistic Zelda (if they can get one ready for Launch, it could be a system feeding frenzy.)

Yeah,
Majoras mask is most deffinitley a good game considering the time it was released. It's fun without being too easy or to hard.
There's a good main quest with pleanty of cool little extra quests as well, not to mention it'll keep you busy for quite some time.
Also, decent replay value, okay graphics for the time. I mean, they're not anything close to being beutifully textured and realistic but they obviously weren't aiming for that. Good sound, and no gameplay problems in my experience.
Only thing is I somehow found the overall tone of the game a bit depressing. It's not all "fun adventure" like OT was. Instead it's "Ahh crap i got punked and turned into a deku, aww crap i gotta help all these people, aww crap i screwed up now i gotta go back in time and try again, awwcrap!" but it does a good job of getting you into the game.
Good times overall.

I definetly enjoyed Majora's Mask though OOT is still my favorite. (If anyone is a hardcore OOT fan I suggest they play Master Quest, very cool sense of nostalgia with a whole new twist) The mini quests are great because they stretch the gameplay while ending up being of some value in the end. I agree the game did have sort of a sad feeling to it though, and I think the ending was slightly anti-climatic. The coolest part was getting the Fierce Diety Mask, hence my avatar :D . Overall for a N64 game I think it had great depth even more so then some new titles. Yes they were probably just tryng to milk the name for what its worth but they did end up with a more then decent game in the end.

Your right the Fierce Diety Mask does rock. :D
The use of masks overall was a really cool feature, especially the transforming ones. I could deffinitly stand more stuff like that. Transforming rocks, anybody recall Shrykull in the Oddworld series? That was bada$$

Yeah it was, and I'm sure everyone remembers the Happy Mask Shop from OOT. I think its was a really cool idea to expand on that and make it a whole other game. Its almost like a foreshadow of what was to come. Lets see if they take an idea from WW and do the same thing. It will be interesting to see what they plan to do in the sequel.
