Graphically So far I don't see any major differences in the consoles.

The PS3 has a lot more multimedia features (seemingly) but who's to say they will come to fruition whatever happened to the PS2 keyboard and monitor? There games looked a hell of a lot more polished. But it seems they weren't rendered in real time. My biggest ? is will the 2 extra cores the PS3 is supporting have a serious impact on visuals. And doesn't seem like they are doing much with online either. Killzone video looks awesome but Gurreilla has yet to make a good game so the Jury is still out on that. Oh yeah with that controller Sony has just lost the dominace of FPS next gen seriously what the hell were they thinking I predict an Controller S type upgrade down the line. 8 controllers on one screen? Who the hell wants to split a screen 8 ways?

Where are all the cries of innovation that I was reading a couple of days ago on this board. I Sony fans that willing to settle for the same games over again.

Does the Xbox 360 have more RPG"S? And not just more Rpg's but more Japanese ones? That's strange. So far the MS seems to have focused on everything but the games it just doesn't seem that they were ready It's a shame that all the 3rd party offerings look better than there 1st party ones. And there is no exuse for showing PD0 looking like it does. Honestly I am a little excited but I haven't been blown away. I haven't gotten that feeling I did the first time I seen NFL2K video at the movie theatre and latter when I played the thought that yeah this is next gen. It seems like next gen is bascially a push to more multimedia than an upgrade in games.

Yeah, this multimedia crap is getting to me. I don't need multimedia on my gaming console. This is all MS fault! Pushing the consoles as PC junior! Well somewhere down the line maybe PCs will become obsolete except for offices. Maybe. Nah.

Sony started it the multimedia frenzy when they included a CD player in the PSone then a DVD player in the PS2.

MS seems to be trying to use the Xbox360 as a hook to upgrade your windows to Media Center and I have do doubt that down the line there will be some exlusive features for Xbox 360 owners who purchase Longhorn.

And of course sony is trying to jump start the Blu Ray market.

How about 1080p vs 720p or 1080i? That's a significant advantage IMO. And don't give me any crap about how most people don't own a 1080p HDTV. That's a PS2 Fanboy argument. You could probably use a monitor like Dell's 2405fpw, which supports 1920x1080 resolution. That monitor will probably sell for around $700 when the PS3 comes out.

That might be the route I go when I get the PS3. Since it has two HDMI outputs, I can hook it up to my TV (which is only 1080i) and my monitor. The bluetooth wireless controllers allow me to play on either screen very easily without worrying about any obstructions to the signal.

People seem to think around here that because its the next generation there won't be ANY bad games. People, there are only going to be maybe a handful of great games on launch day for 360. Sure there will be a lot of games, and sure they will all look decent to great. But out of all of them, maybe only 2-3 will be AAA 90% rated games. And guess what, it will be the very same thing when PS3 launches. PS3 will have maybe a few more due to the multiplats that will have already been on XBOX 360. And oh here is another surprise, the best looking games, may not be the best playing games. I'm not a RARE supporter, I always thought MS should have bought Ubisoft or Bioware for the $375 million. But hey it might turn-out Perfect Dark 0 may look like crap and be the best game of the bunch. MS is definitely hot on the game for a reason.

In the end though the great great games are going to come from the talented developers. I think Bethesda's Oblivion will be a great game for sure. I know Ghost Recon3 will be a great game. Everyone is talking about Gears of War. And again, MS is hot on Perfect Dark 0. Other than that I think a lot of these early games will be people trying to cash in on launch day. Now, as always, there will be some team that comes out of nowhere and suprises everyone. Who will it be, we will just have to wait and see. And as usually, the follow up wave will have some gems also.

But this is why its so important for MS to launch first, its the only chance they had. Can you imagine what the 2nd generation 360 games will be like when PS3 launches. And if you believe PS3 is going to launch with EVERY one of its big name franchises, that would be stupid. The games would canibalize each other, yet alone get eaten by Halo3. So, Sony will have a few of its top games, but don't expect to see everything from Metal Gear to DMC to GT5 at launch, no way. This is why MS is going to be coming hard at Sony in '06, I can guess right now you will see Forza 2.0, Halo3, and Ninja Gaiden for XMAS '06. That's going to have an impact on PS3, its impossible for it to not an some residual impact.

Obviously Elder Scrolls Oblivion will be launch window, and there is another game 99 Knights, then there is the Final Fantasy game, and the Japanese developed Myst Walker stuff. Don't know if the last two will be launch day, or launch window, or 2nd generation. But, MS has apparently ensured there will be some RPG stuff. And on top of that all is eerily quiet on the LIONHEAD and BIOWARE front. Remember LIONHEAD will likely follow up Fable with another game, plus they pushed back some stuff like BC, and Bioware will likely follow up Jade Empire at some point. I think there will be a lot more rpgs on 360 sooner than was the case on XBOX.

Oh, good point, it was Sony that started with CD Players. I'm referring more to the "media center" blitz XBox is doing, though.

As for Lionhead, do console gamers think anything of Black and White? I didn't really enjoy the PC game since it had a lot of things wrong, but B&W2 still excites me with its prospects. Maybe B&W2 for the next gen consoles will surprise everyone?
