Nintendo also revealed that using Revolution's new Wi-Fi connection, gamers would be able to go online to a free gamer-matching service. Interestingly, in a move similar to Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade service, Revolution users will be able to download classic and new Nintendo games over the Internet. Nintendo cited such examples as Donkey Kong and Super Mario Sunshine, which suggests that Revolutionaries could have access to games for all the publisher's previous consoles.
Screw xbox retro arcade or what ever it is called, this is great news, although the only factor now would be the size of the mass storage on this sleek device, as you would certainly want to fill it up with all the classics. :P

"Revolution will be "two-to-three times more powerful than GameCube," according to Nintendo, which also acknowledges that the next-generation race isn't solely about new technologies. By contrast, Microsoft's Xbox 360 console is 13-15 times more powerful than the first, according to the publisher. And Sony says it's PlayStation 3 is roughly 35 times more powerful than PlayStation 2."
But wait a second, i thought Revolution would be more powerful than Xbox 360, since its coming out later. But from those figures up there, it seems that Revolution would be the least powerful? Tell me I am wrong because it doesnt make any sense.

If I could download old Nintendo games for free, I'd buy the Revo just so I could catch up on all the old games I missed out on ever since parting ways with Nintendo during the Super FamiCom days. Imagine, with that, you don't even need that rich a launch! You could tide yourself over playing all the Metroids back from the 8-bit days, to Super Mario 3, to Excite Bike, bah!!!

When you think about it, it probably does make sense. Nintendo probalby has no intention of bleeding itself dry selling hardware at a loss. Nintendo, playing it safe, will want to actually make money off of any consoles it sells. No matter how you look at it, if Sony and MS are serious about those specs, they're gonna be selling those consoles at such a loss that it would make even the Sultan of Brunei wince in pain. Nintendo obviously cannot adopt such a strategy.
Of coures, this means though that it's gonna be drastically underpowered in this next gen shoot out. That means that if Nintendo is going to survive, it's simply going to have to be different and yet fun enough in that uniqueness to get gamers to take a look at it.
Nintendo will be about fun games, not uber-mindblowing games. I just hope we won't be saying farewell to one of the contenders this gen.

1 word: DreamCast
IF u get dreamcast and explore in the interent u can download a bunch of dreamcast games that have...700 NES games in one,180 SNES games in one, 4 Sega Genesis game CDS....these exist, i know cuz i have them (i dont mean to brag...okay maybe a little ;) )
U dont need to buy the revolution to enjoy old classics, just get a last gen console, or better yet get the games on your pc. There are tonz of roms out there in the interent.
I have this zip file close to 900MB of "every snes game created" in every country (so it says in the zip file atleast).
So PC or Dreamcast, since u already have a PC go in that route.

Actually I already have NesTen, Snes9X, and the N64 Emulator. What I was thinking is that you could get even GameCube games on it. If not, then no need since I already have all the emulation for old games that I need.
