You are just wasting your own time and money. There is a reason why Silent Hill, Onimusha, and Metal Gear 2 all sold like crap on the XBOX. Nobody wants to play old lesser quality games. Either come with some new shyat or don't come at all. A remake? Please. Stop right there.
For this project to be anywhere close to successful this FFXI better only be recoginizable only in name. Everything else better be completely brand and every pixel better be next gen amazing. At least it will apparently be playable over XBOX LIVE, we will see how that works out.
I'm not saying Square can't be successful on XBOX, i'm saying they won't be successful in this approach. Not with XBOX gamers, they aren't buying that old console game rehash crap. That stuff might work, swapping games like VJ and Resident Evil back and forth between the PS2 and GC, but this ain't gonna fly on XBOX 360. And we will see how commited they are, both them and Rockstar will have to release their games at the same time on 360 as they do on PS3. Otherwise, they will be wasting their money. I guess MS is happy though, but they are deluding themselves if they think this will help them out in Japan, nothing will help in Japan, unless Nintendo folds and supports XBOX 360. Other than that this deal with Square won't sell one extra console, in Japan or in the States.

well considering the PC version of FF XI looks better then anything that a next generation console will come out with, id say it should port well to Xbox 360.Im sure it will look better then the ps 2 version by miles

If Metal Gear and Silent Hill ruled, they would not have seen diminished sales with each iteration. Especially after the PS2 installed base grew so significantly after these games were released year one. I think both of these series, while still good names, need new life breathed into them. And MetalGear just is an embarrassment side by side against Splinter Cell franchise. Now a lot of people will talk about subjective stuff like the plot and story, but the games overall and the features the online play, its just no competition in this regard.
But now Silent Hill and Metal Gear have a new canvas, the PS3. The devs won't be limited by technology, so if they get mopped up again they can't cry about tech anymore. But I just don't see Ubisoft being beat anytime soon, they got the mojo workin' baby. The great news is now Ubisoft games won't play like ass on the PS3. If anything, they should be better on PS3 than XBOX 360.

Splinter Cell is an embarassment compared to the Thief franchise, far more than MGS to SC.
MGS at least is boatloads better than SC in the story and presentation aspect. It may not have been as good in the stealth aspect and it had no Online features, but it was better in unique gameplay aspects (like how each situation was different compared to how every situation in SC was the same) and its overall presentation (music, designs, etc. were loads better).
SC, on the other hand, only has multiplayer over Thief. Oh, and graphics too, but that's only because SC is a newer franchise. Thief is better in presentation, in plot, and especially in gameplay, considering SC is just a Thief clone in terms of gameplay, but with linear missions with a very scripted, herded feel..
