Quoted from the IGN atricle: "The leak is interesting for a couple of reasons. Normally fake images are produced in RGB, and they have been, so far, low-res images. This image is in high-resolution, plus it's formatted in CMYK, a printable format, suggesting it could have come from an asset disc"

Latest rumors on design, concave on top in horizontal position. Can also be placed vertically. The base model, sans hd is going to be $299, the hd version which will be the more prevalent will be $399. If you want b/c, you need the hard drive. Well, at least it looks better than the old xbox, but I'm not crazy about the platinum look, really winds up sticking out in an a/v rack.

Well most gear these days seems to be going back to silver although it reminds me of the late 70 early 80s when all this crap was silver. People will ***** if it is silver, white or black so whats the point. I think they should just break down and wood grain it Atari 2600 style! Maybe it will actually have ways to change it appearance the way that loon J Allard claimed.

I was wondering where this thing goes:

But after clicking on Horns link, I think I spotted it.

Now if you look at Jupiters pic... along the left side of the console (which would also be the top, if the machine were set vertically)... I'm pretty sure that's it right there.

And, I'm thinking that's the detachable harddrive-thingie.

My eyes maybe playing tricks on me but is there only but ONE controller port on this thing??

I think that next gen will all be wireless controllers with no option for wired ones. I may be wrong but that's my guess. If so I hope that something on the front of that thing allows for recharging the batteries. I don't want to lose the controller cords only to gain recharging cords. Maybe that ovalish door on the right holds controller batteries for recharging. It wil be interesting to see when they let us know. P.S. here is the link to next gen Madden ad, I'm not too impressed but it is only EA after all.

Yeah, rumors are that X-box 2 will have wireless controllers. Yet another thing to b**** about. I don't like wireless controllers.

That's interesting.
Check out the Screenshot gallery. Notice the dates... anything from April 15 is captured with the PS2 hardware, while the ones after that date are from the Next gen.

So far, the only gameplay shots all come from the PS2. The next gen shots are in-game, but not gameplay.

Wireless controllers, all games will support hi-def as standard, all games will feature custom soundtracks. I think the days of controller cords are coming to an end. I hope wi-fi is built in. If not, dumb move on their part. Revolution will be wifi capable out the box. This needs to be standard.

System looks just fine, better than I thought it would actually. I'm lukewarm about the wireless controllers though. I like them enough to have one for both XBox and GC, but I don't like that wired controllers are being abandoned. I don't want to constantly be changing batteries. Plus, this will likely make the controllers more expensive.

Everybody is misunderstanding this. Those "game" shots are this gen while the other shots are next gen. there will be two Madden 2006. The one for Xbox,PS2 and Cube and then one for Xbox360 and PS3 when it is released. I read the next gen shots are not in game but what they claim in game will look like.

pff...yeah I believe EA on that one.

The hardware is final, the devs have had the specs and kits for a while, and all they can do is an artist's rendering of what it'll look like? If it's not running off an XBox2, I'm calling BS. Besides, has anyone actually seen a tech-demo rendering that EVER approached what a console did in-game? The N'64 ones oversold the system like nothing else and I'm STILL waiting for a game that looks as good as that robot/chick XBox demo.

I don't know what you guys problem is but the cords need to go. Video games are the only electronic enterainment device's on the market that controller uses cords to interface with the appliance (of course videogames controllers get more use than any other device's controller) it's time to progress. MS did good buy giving the extra long cords but then they tangle easily I have two wireless cords for the Xbox and using them allows me to shut the glass door on my entertainment stand instead of having to play with it open on sitting the console on the floor. There was a rumor that the Controllers were rechargable and came with some kind of deck. Hope that's true.

Others embrace it. I see this as progress. I've been using wireless controllers for the past few years. Hopefully, these controllers will be good enough, that it will obviate the need to purchase any other 3rd person controllers. This will be great an attractive looking unit, that will go with most other electronic devices. This will fit right into my setup. And no cords means no mess and just throw the controllers into a drawer when not playing, nobody will know its there. The batteries on the Logitech wireless controllers last a long time, a very long time, and i've got the first generation Logitech. The newer ones are smaller and take only two AA batteries, whereas mine take 4.

If this is the unit i'd be more than satisfied with it. It looks the part, is small and convenient. I think overall MS thought this one out a great deal. Now i'm just curious to see how this business of the hardrive is going to be handled. Also, how big will those memory units be. Looks like MS was smart in sticking with the current DVD technology, if they had of chosen either standard the seat would have been pulled right from underneath them and delayed their timetable.

Well guys looks like Forza could very well be my last game of this generation. What a way to go out.
