I was at a store earlier today and stumbled upon Gran Turismo 4 set up w/the $149.99 Logitech official GT4 wheel and no one was playing it. Of course I had to give it a try. WOW - freakin amazing. Not GT4 - the Wheel.

I don't currently own a PS2 nor did I want to drop $375 to buy one, GT4, memory card, and wheel. So I walked over to the trusty XBOX area and looked at the two different wheels they had available. After some careful reading and a conversation with the clerk, I picked up the Mad Catz2 wheel mainly because its can be calibrated and included both pedals and a stick shift (similar to the king PS2 wheel but much chearper).

The only racing game I have is PGR2 which I played immediately after getting home. It took awhile getting used to the game but overall I couldn't decide if I liked the wheel over controller. I then popped in the Forza demo off an OXM disc and WOW - this game jams with a wheel. Just like GT4 earlier today, this seemed ultra realistic while using a wheel plus seemed to offer an advantage to just using a regular controller set-up.

Down shifting around corners, for example, seemed much more natural and therefore was easier. The wheel is also adjustable so I re-calibrated it for optimal driving.

Does anyone else own a MadCatz2 Racing Wheel for the XBOX or similar wheel? How do you like it? Which games are the best for it? I going to reserve Forza tomorrow and will probably keep playing the one demo track since I'm enjoying it so much.

I had previously read reviews that the MC2 would stop working due to its high force-feedback, but I've yet to experience it. I enjoy quite a bit. I don't find that it enhances my performance as much as it enhances the entertainment value. I use it mainly for Midtown Madness 3 and Burnout 3. MM3 is the best. MM3 is a Sunday afternoon cruising simulator.

How do you compare your MC2 to the Logitech that you played with for the GT4 demo? I hear Logitech actually used a rack and pinion system for their wheel. What I love about the MC2 is that it works will almost all racing games. I will go out and buy TOCA and Colin McRae 2k5 very soon.
