Halo for the PC just went gold, expected to be on shelves Sept 30.

I just cannot get excited about this. A console FPS? I'll wait till I can see it in action (ie demo) before I buy it.

Eh, I'll give it a try for sure... Too bad it's being released a few days after Chrome... Oh well, I've played Chrome, so I'll pick that up (it's a sure bet), and after I have played the demo for Halo, or reading positive reviews, I'll consider buying it then.

It's funny you're complaining about a console shooter... Isn't that what's happened with Deus Ex 2?

Nah, Deus Ex 2 is still a PC game through and through, it's just the graphics that have been designed with the Xbox in mind. So it's not gonna be as slick looking as it could've been, but it still looks fine.

Well Deus Ex 2 is being developed concurrently for the PC and Xbox, so I'm hoping (REALLY hoping) that it doesn't suffer from consolitis. Same with Knights of the Old Republic. Halo, on the other hand, came out almost 2 years ago and took an incredibly long time to port to the PC.

How do you know? Oh that's right, you don't!! It's not just the graphics that have been redesigned, but the controls, drive access/storage medium, and in fact the plot could/may/have been pared down for the average console user... with more of an emphasis on action over role-playing. Let's wait and see who's right before either of us go tooting our horns though...

Actually, according to one of the interviews I read recently the game is far more open ended as far as plot is concerned. You're not trapped to a single plotline as you were in the original Deus Ex (IE, you couldn't choose to betray UNATCO until the game decided it) and every decision can alter the course of the game.

I doubt that Spector would go through all the trouble of hyping that up..specially when the game he was hyping is coming out within a couple of months of the interview...only to disappoint us with a totally linear plotline involving shooting everything you see.

As usual I'm gonna stay cautiously optimistic.
