Hello,
My name is Christopher Watling, I am an undergraduate psychology student at The Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom. I have a passion for playing computer games of all genres and I am currently researching in the area of computer game structural characteristics and individual personality profiles. The purpose of my research is to identify a link between who we are and what we like about computer games in order to further advance our scientific knowledge of this relatively new genre of entertainment.
Computer gaming research is a relatively new and exciting field in the area of psychology. As psychologist we aim to explore with scientific fact the phenomenon that is the most interactive form of entertainment media to date. We want to factually know why we enjoy computer games rather than speculating theories that have no grounding.
It would be of great benefit to the scientific research if you would please take 10-20 minutes to complete the questionnaire in the link here:
http://ess.ntu.ac.uk/sutton/formfil...archproject.htm
The questionnaire consists of two parts, the first part measures your personality and the second part measures your preferences towards the structural characteristics of computer games (i.e. graphic/sound realism, use of humour, puzzle solving, beating time limits etc).
The questionnaire is non-intrusive and your anonymity is secured. No personal information is required to take part in the study. Any responses will be used with the strictest of confidence. I have attained permission from the administrators to this forum to post this thread and link.
Thank you for your time, and hopefully your participation,
Chris Watling
