I've been hanging around the TTLG boards a lot lately. That thread started last night and is already five pages long. They're going crazy over there. If it's a hoax, I think TTLG will commit mass suicide. This is great news. TDS - the game no one buys now and goes for $20 at Best Buy before it disappears from the shelves entirely - could become one of those rare and highly sought-after games that go for a premium on Ebay because of all the great fan missions and enhancements.

I'd love to see what people will do to improve the city part of the game, giving Garrett more places to explore, more use of his climbing gloves, etc. Improve the textures, make the city more vibrant like in the earlier Thief games. And all those new missions...Return to the Cradle, anyone? Better maps, larger and with less linearity, more places to sneak. Load zones - will reducing or eliminating them on larger fan maps cause a major performance hit? This game already runs like a slug. Will have to find out...

This is awesome. The much-derided TDS will rise up several notches in Thief lore because of this.

I've played around with it a bit. It's....pretty good but it has it's problems. It has a hardcoded property limit, which will make making larger levels a problem in the short term. Plus swimmable water is still a big if at the moment, the engine isn't designed with any in mind so it's doubful that we'll see T1 & 2 style water levels anytime soon.

But beyond those problems there's no doubt that people are gonna do some amazing things with it. There's still alot that can be tweaked and refined even though simple scripting...think about what people did with Dromed, which was a trainwreck of an editor in comparison to this.

Yay! Looks like I'll be reinstalling Thief 3 soon enough. I was hoping to get a new processor before doing so though because I wanted to run Thief 3 smooth this time around but when the missions come out I'll soon be playing again.

It hasn't even been a week and people are alredy posting screenshots and talking about their missions. It's going to be a great summer for Thief, I can feel it.
