Fewer than one in 10,000 XBox power cords are reported to have an over heating problem, which can cause a burning hazard.
There were seven instances reported of burned hands, and several more reports of damage to furniture and carpeting.
Microsoft has made the decision to recall over 14 million.
Overall, the recall affects about 70 percent of the approximately 20 million consoles sold.
The recall affects XBox, manufactured before October, 2003 in the US. In Europe, it affects those manufactured before January, 2004.
