I purchased Vice City about a month ago. I was told by many that I shouldn't bother with GTA 3, but to just buy Vice City. This is my first taste of GTA. I am not impressed or amused. What am I missing that so many others see in this game. I've put about 15 hours into the game. Yes its cool to kill cops and passerbys but that gets old. So far the game seems like a scavenger hunt, sending me from point A to point B then back to point A again. I got that with Shenmue and hated that part of the game. At least Shenmue had an involving story. I'm genuinely trying to play the game through to the end so please, someone, give me a reason to finish this game. What cool features or plot line am I overlooking? I have made an effort to not play the game for the last two weeks to see it fresh. I want to be fair and not hate the game due to my overly high expectations.

Wow, what a loaded post. So you've already put in about 15 hours, but don't like the game. And now you want us to tell you why you should finish it. You shouldn't. You already answered your own question.

Here you go .... Tommy is pissed at Sonny (mob boss) because Sonny had set Tommy up years ago and was the reason Tommy went to prison in the first place.

At the end of the game, Lance turns on you and betrays you. Lance talks to the mob boss, Sonny, and tells them that Tommy is using conterfit money to "pay off" Sonny, as an "apology" for Tommy killing Sonny's bill-collectors. The final mission is you going to your mansion (which is a mock-up of Tony Montana's mansion) and killing Lance and Sonny, getting your final revenge while protecting you money.

There, I spoiled it for you. Now you don't have to play the game anymore.

WOW!! My request wasn't loaded at all. I only stated my bias. The GTA series is the most successful franchise this generation. If 10 million buyers say the game is good, I at least attempt to assume I am overlooking something in the game. I may never like this game but I at least would like to know the reason for its success. Any idiot can try something once and forever say that it sucks.

Maybe GTA isn't your type of game. Or maybe open-ended games aren't your type. That's what sold me on the game, how much freedom I had in the game. Then again, I played GTA3 back in 2001, so I'm not surprised GTA doesn't feel the same when you play it now as it did for other games who played it a while ago.

Darwin's right. If you've already put in 15 hours into the game and don't like it, don't play it.

What makes this game so great?? Its the fact that you can do about anything you want. The way to enjoy GTA VC is to take breaks in between missions and just go for a joy ride maybe kill a few pedestrians ect.15 hours of gta vc isnt alot of playing time with how huge the city is.Heck ive played rpg,s that took me 40+ hours to realize i didnt like it.
