Cha-ching!
Heyyyy. we finally got it! We got permission to post and share and tell of the deals we see! Deals as they relate to videogames, and consoles, and accessories, of course. Let's not abuse this; no spam!
Also, because the sale - or price break, or whatever - might be limited to one area only, we should state what area it is we live in or are seeing this for. (You've all read the disclaimers before, you know how they do, "Quantities limited; Product and selection may vary by store; Valid at such-and-such location only; Not applicable for internet transactions..."; etc., etc.) I know we're already being considerate in sharing (that it's intrinsic with every post in this thread), but if we're going to do it, let's do it all the way, right? But on the flipside, let's not wig out and curse a guy or threaten a guy's life or anything if we go to the place so-and-so said, and find out that they don't have any such promotion going. Just be truthful and this'll work fine.
Also, if it's a sale, and it's running for a limited time only, be sure to state that too. In fact, give us the exact dates - I think that'd work best.
And lastly, if you spotted a great deal, but aren't sure if anybody else already posted on it, post it anyway. Better that we're redundant, than missing out - that's what I say. Don't assume that so-and-so's got the Best Buy beat (or whatever) covered - that tho' the deal you saw there hasn't been mentioned on here yet, that so-and-so will have it posted soon - if it's not on here yet, get it up!
Cool.

Now, of course, as luck would have it, there's not much worth mentioning from the Sunday flyers that I see. D'oh!
Of all the places... CompUSA's the one with this best (practically the only) deals going on this week!?!:
* Ghost Recon 2 [Xbox] = $34.99
* Halo 2 (reg.ed.) = $37.99
* Mercenaries [PS2/Xbox] = $39.99
* Jak 3 = $29.99
And I'm going to mention two PC games here because they are two PC games that I've been interested in:
* Doom 3 = $27.99
* Evil Genius = $29.99
CUSA "Prices good January 16-22, 2005"
After that, there isn't much... just a couple of games on sale at Circuit City:
* Metal Gear Caca 3: Snake Eater = $37.99
* The Punisher [PS2/Xbox] = $39.99
* Mercenaries [PS2/Xbox] = $39.99
CC "advertised prices effective: 1/16/05 - 1/22/05"
Strange thing about that Mercenaries ad in the CC flyer... it says, "in stores Thursday".
Huh? I thought it was supposed to be in stores last Thursday. Shoot, Darwin and RBH have it already and are playing it! This is getting really ridiculous now!

Oh yeah, I live in southeast Michigan, and I got this info from the flyers in the Sunday paper (Detroit News/Free Press).

Well, I'm in Phoenix, AZ, but the best area here for gamers trying to save a buck is the Metrocenter Mall area. In that one shopping zone (all within a half mile of each other) is a Best Buy, a CompUSA, a Circuit City, a Toys R Us, *two* EB Games, one Babbages, one Gamestop, one KB toys, a Sam Goody, and a Sears (yes, Sears sells video games).
I have found that the price on an individual game can vary a lot from one store to another. But, for overall best deals, it's hard to beat Toys R Us. They always have a bargain bin with games for less than $10. They also have very hard to find games sitting on the shelf. For instance, I got the GBA-specific version of Asteroids there (it's not a PSX or arcade port), tho I paid almost $40 for it. But it's killer. And, the other stores do not even show it in their inventory.
I have seen variances of more than $20 for the same title on the same day. Circuit City also has a bargain bin, where prices change several times a week, and CompUSA does also, at times.

I went to BestBuy this weekend and they had AdvanceWars 2 for the GBA for only $9.99 and Thief: Deadly Shadows for $19.99 for the PC. Those are some good deals.

Oh yeah, I live in southeast Michigan, and I got this info from the flyers in the Sunday paper (Detroit News/Free Press).
Though I live in North Carolina, I believe the sale ads for Circuit City in NC seem to be the same as Michigan. Mercs and Punisher are also $39.99 down here.
In case anyone missed it in the NY Resolution post, Kingdom Under Fire and Outrun 2 have already hi the $19.99 at Gamestop (and possibly EB Games). Bloodrayne 2 has hit $29.99 at Gamestop as well.
Blockbuster/Gamerush has a deal going on until the end of the month where if you trade in 3 games, you get one new for $29.99, then the trade credit from the 3 games are subtracted from the $29.99. It can be any game as long as it isn't a wrestling game, a sports game older than 2004 or 2k4 or some feestyle soccer game, or something.
Now I'm patiently waiting for Burnout 3 to drop......

Not sure if this is an amazing deal, but I found Madden 2005 for under $29.00 @ http://store.bregames.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/SFV/14363/vpid/959523/vpcsid/0/rid/2994
Yes? No? I heard EA was dropping their prices, but didn't realize it would be this low.

For those of you interested in Star Wars: Republic Commando...
...which goes on sale Wednesday February 2...
I see CompUSA is running an ad for the game: sale price of $34.99 (save $15.00!).
LucasArts has been on a heck of a roll lately. But... it must be said that all of the games during this streak were developed out of house. Republic Commando was actually developed in house.
Anyways, sale prices effective Sunday, Jan.30 - Saturday, Feb.5.

Also, during the same period...
Target has...
* NFL Street 2
* GTA: San Andreas
* Metroid Prime: Echoes
* MechAssault 2: Lone Wolf
... on sale for $37.77 each.

And, for you game traders out there... Blockbusters' GameRush is doing this deal where you get an upcoming new game of your choosing for $34.99 when you trade in two games. And that does not include the trade-in value for the two games either! This is a sweet deal, let me tell you.
It's the sweetest ever! Trust me, I know - I just did the deal tonite. I traded in Wind Waker and TOCA 2 and put down a reservation on Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. So right off the bat my balance due for SC:CT is just $34.99. But then I also applied the $19 I got from WW and TOCA2 ($8 + $11, respectively), and so alls I had to pay was $15.99 (plus tax)!
Now, you don't have to put your trade in "dollars" towards the rez if you don't want to. You can put the $ towards another game that you'd like to buy at that time, or put it on a "gift card".
The only "catch" (if you want to call it that) here is that you have to pay the $34.99 (or whatever your balance due is) the day you make the trade and reservation.

Good job, Glock. I didn't think people traded with Blockbuster/GameRush here for some reason. I guess it's because the store isn't talked about much.
I took advantage of this deal. I took BloodRayne 2 (still $25 credit at BB) and Rygar and resrved Devil May Cry 3. I paid only $7 and some change after the trade credit kicked it. I also took Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (bored with it but still got $25) and KOTOR I ($8, would not have played it anymore anyway) and reserved another game for less than $5. Knowing the fact that I can't resist a good deal, I may go ahead and reserve Advent Rising while I have something else I want to get rid of.
A word of warning, though. As far as I know, Blockbuster/GameRush knows nothing of most pre-order specials that stores such as EBGames and Gamestop have. So if someone expects to get a free this or that with a reserve at BB, it probably isn't going to happen. Also, at least with my local BB/GameRush: they seem to get every game on Fridays, regardless of if the game was shipped on Monday or Tuesday. So if you're like me and can't wait those extra two or three days for a certain game (I can't reserve Jade Empire and Fight Night 2 at BB, the wait will be too long), make sure it's a game you don't mind waiting those extra days for.

Hey, Glock. I just found out yesterday(from Munch's Oddessy) that Glockstar is a ranking for the Glukkons. The highest ranking, according to where I'm at in Oddessy. I guess the whole point of the last two-thirds of the game is to get Lulu to rise to the rank of Glockstar by taking all the other Glukkons cash and putting it in Lulu's fund. Good stuff.
Oh yeah, this is off topic.

So is that Lulu in your avy, or is it just a Glockstar?
I've had this game for over a year now, but I have never been able to get into it for some reason. I always got stuck at a point in the Slig Huts, and could never figure it out. Then the other day I started to play it again after I had renewed enthusiasim for beating the XBOX games that I haven't beat yet when I beat Shenmue 2. For some reason, the puzzles became more clear, and I pretty much walked through the whole thing after Raisin said I had to do the money thing with the Glukks. I just got past the Splinters toothpick lab or whatever it's called.
Dammit, no spamming!! So here's some info. My local Gamestop is having a buy two used and get one free of equal or lesser value deal. Also, Hastings Books and music is having a buy two, get a third for a dollar.

I just did the deal again today. :D This time I traded in Ace Combat 4 and Midway Arcade Treasures (vol.1) (Xbox) and put a res down on Doom 3 Limited Collectors Edition. I got $8 for AC4 and $7 for MAT. But this time I just put the $15 trade in credit on a gift card (instead of applying it towards D3).
There's a couple of reasons why I mention this. One, is to show would be traders that GameRush gives pretty credits for games. Damned good, actually. I bought AC4 (used at GameStop) for less than what GR paid me for it! Hee hee! Secondly, even though I reserved D3, The Collectors Edition, I still only paid $34.99 for the game. Hah hah! (For those of you that don't know, the D3:CE is supposed to retail for $59.99 (as opposed to $49.99 for the regular edition). :cool:

That Doom 3 Collector's Edition deal you just got is a steal.
GameRush definitely gives good trade credit. I used to think they didn't know what they were doing, but since they make $$ on other things besides just games, they can afford to give out better trade credit. For instance, I got Run Like Hell for $5 last year, but when I tried to trade it in at EBGames, they told me $1 credit. At GameRush, I picked up $12 credit for the game. If I do get credit that's around $3 or so for a game, it's usually a pretty old game (like Splinter Cell 1), but as long as it isn't an old sports game, those type of old games can go towards any good deals they have going on.
Is it too early to reserve Forza with the Gamerush deal?

Guys, I just found out about this bargain thread, so I so would have posted earlier but here goes.
Right now you can buy GT4 with the Logitech Pro Racing Wheel for 129.99$ at Outpost.com. This is a true steal (considering you planned on getting a racing wheel forever and then you saw this). Regularly the game, plus the wheel would cost 200$, so thats a save of 70$. Saving 70$. There you go. My bargain of the day.
Also, you guys should frequent Outpost.com, I know they have more deals on other games a well. They usually have deals on at least 5 games per console, the some of them include free-shipping. If I find other deals I'll let you know.

For the week starting Sunday, Feb.27 thru Saturday, March 5:
* Circuit City - Republic Commando and Mercenaries = $39.99
* Comp USA - Gran Turismo 4, Project Snowblind, and Brothers In Arms = $37.99
S'funny, CompUSA had Republic Commando advertised and on sale a couple of weeks ago - before the game was even out - and now, here, with the game scheduled to hit shelves Tuesday (2/28), they don't have it on sale. :confused:

Hee hee! I did the GameRush deal again too! I'm addicted! Getting rid of games is so... therapeutic! I'm so effin happy lately! And I've got almost every game that I want from this year reserved and paid for now too. :D
The details, so's you can see what GameRush gives for The Sims (PS2) and Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC) - $8 and $8. (Traded in those; reserved Conker Live & Reloaded.)

Now, I just gotta figure out what to do with the strategy guides. Do we have a Trade Thread going on anywhere? ;)

I did my last GameRush deal. DOA 3 ($7) and Rumble Roses ($18) for Advent Rising. I know it's my last, because the only games I have left are the ones that are "untouchable" like Ninja Gaiden, KOTOR II, GTA SA and Mercs.
I haven't see a trade thread in here. I think many gamers may want ti keep all their titles, but if I don't play it and don't want it, the game is as good as gone. The sooner, the better, so I can get more trade credit for them.
Best Buy deals:
Devil May Cry 3 and Fight Night Round 2- $39.99 each "Member price". Member Price? I guess it has to do with their Rewards Zone thingy.
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, and X-Men Legends- $34.99 each. I think if Stranger's Wrath started off at around $39.99, it would have caught more people's attention than at $49.99 on release day.
Everything else they have in Best Buy are pretty much the regular price of the game. $39.99 for The Getaway:Black Monday, FIFA Street, and MLB 2005 (Sony) and $29.99 for Street FIghter Anniversary Collection and MVP Baseball 2005 are just advertisements for regular prices.

I've got another GameRush trade to report on. :p
I traded in Maximo and Katamari Damacy - got $1.50 (youch!) and $7.00, respectively - and put that money down on Destroy All Humans (XBox). Now the reason I'm telling y'all this is because this time Blockbuster let me carry the balance due; I didn't have to pay it all off then and there.
I guess I'd like to say one more thing about this trade I made. Although it looks like I got shafted on my trade, I actually came out okay. See, with this dealio you automatically get $7.50 for each game you trade in - no matter what the game. ('Cept sports titles, I think; nobody wants those.) So I actually got $9 for Maximo. Which is a heck of a lot more than I paid for it. :D I did take a bit of a hit on KD tho'. Lost about $5 on that one. (Worse than the money tho', was the time I lost playing that dumb game.) Oh well, you win some, you lose some.
That might be it for me as well, Hunter. I've got one game I'm ready to part with, but I don't think I'm going to have another to pair it with before the deal is over. (Ends March 14.) Or have the guts to part with, I should say. Rainbow Six 3 and Amplitude are my leading candidates - but... I'm embarrased to get rid of RS3 having paid so much for it, and having barely played it; and with Amplitude, I don't want to take another loss - these vg retailers aren't paying *bleep* for Amplitude (like $7 at the most; same as KD). (Anybody wanna trade? :p ) Dang it, I've still got too many games!

I didn't play a lot of Metal Arms and eventhough the character design looked like walking trashcans, I thought the game had soem good controls. The devs for Metal Arms are the ones who are working on StarCraft: Ghost, so that gives me some hope......that is if the game ever gets a release date.
I almost had one more game to go toward the GameRush deal. Madden 2005. Got it used, but didn't think I could play franchise w/o having to do the Owner's crap. Now that I can play it w/o setting prices and stuff, I have pulled it from being trade bait. It's a good thing, because I had nothing to pre-order unless I get God Of War there and cancel my pre-order for it at EB.
I also found out at my GameRush that they honestly have no idea when games come in. Could be Friday, could be Thursday, and even Saturdays (for anything released on Thrusday or Friday). I can't be mad at that, since they were honest about it, but I did get DMC 3 a day earlier than expected.
Destroy All Humans should be good. Devs Pandemic have been batting 1.000 so far with their other titles.

Weird how Oddworld has this invisibility cloack around it. Big Halo fan. But despite working at Best Buy, where Stranger's Wrath is prominently displayed as onsale for $34 where you enter the store, I asked the guy if he'd heard of it, and he hadn't.

Best Buy usually have a couple of games that have had their prices slashed in stores. They shoudl try to advertise them instead of the other games that they have in their ads that are regular priced games.
I believe the GameRush deal ends on Monday. Unfortunately, I may have to wheel and deal with them one more time, and DMC3 may be the victim. If I do trade it, I'm almost guaranteed $30 to $35 on the one title alone, which would pay for a pre-order (God of War). I just need one more game to complete the trade...............

Whoa! Getting rid of DMC3 already?!?
I think I'm going to do the deal one more time too. :p Probably at the "eleventh hour", so to speak, if I do. I've decided to get rid of Amplitude. But now I don't know about the other game. Think I'm going to reserve Advent Rising; but that's not set in stone; gotta check the calender.

Whoa! Getting rid of DMC3 already?!?.
Oh, yeah. When frustration turns into hate for a title, it's days are usually numbered. But not in the case of DMC3, since it only had hours. I got my full $35 back that I paid for, well considering that $7 and two games are what I paid for DMC3. I ended up pre-ordering God of War after all. I'll enjoy that title more.

I pre-ordered Advent Rising. The lastest dates say May 3rd shipping date, which means my Gamerush will get it May 6, along with Forza. I didn't have another game, so I went and got a cheap Morrowind ($4.80) and used that to trade....I got $5 for it, so I made $.20 in profit. HA!
Funny thing about Gamerush. I've done so many pre-order deals (6 total), I make the female clerks smile every time I come in there with 2 titles now. I think I'm the main person doing the deal in my city.

Looks like that $29.99 is the new regular price for Fable.

Also on sale this week (Sun.Mar.13 thru Sat.Mar.19):
Meijer has GTA:San Andreas on sale for $39.99.
Sears has Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, and The Getaway advertised on sale for $9.99.
I went there tonite to check their selection out - I'd totally written them off with regards to videogames, even though that's where I used to buy the majority of my games for the Intellivision thru the SuperNES. And I have to say: do not overlook Sears!
In addition to the games advertised in this weeks flyer (mentioned above), they also have a number of other games on sale. They offer the same deals in the stores as they do online so click on this link to go to their online Videogames store - then click on the platform-specific games link and you'll see what I'm talking about. As you can also see, almost all of their game prices are up to date (with regards to price reductions and whatnot).
One more thing, at the store they had Kingdom Under Fire listed as on sale for $15.99 (along with a bunch of others). That seemed like a good enough price to me, so I asked the clerk to open the case up. But when she scanned it, it wrung up for $9.99! :D How sweet is that!?! (Don't see the game online tho'... (?))

I know I have said it before, but this time I mean it. This will be my last GameRush deal for a while. I mean it this time. SC: Chaos Theory will be my last pre-order deal, because I have run out of trade-able games, and after Forza/Advent Rising, there isn't a clear release date on anything else, except for GTA: San Andreas.

Well, it's not really a bargain in the form that it's being used here, but I found that if you look around when shopping online, you can find deals where you can still get the pre-order bonus with your order! I recently did that with Stranger's Wrath. Gamestop still had the pre-order bonus which included the "Movies of Oddworld", or all the major cut scenes from Oddysee, Exoddus, and Munch. I also did the same with RE4 at ebgames, and got a free cd with my order. I should've gone for the making of DVD instead, but I thought that the cd was the OST. It turned out it was a sampler of the movie soundtracks. Still free, though. :)

Don't know if this has been mentioned yet. I read something today about a Gamer's Gift Card (the ones in the videogames section) at Bestbuy. There is a $5 off ($19.99 or more) coupon with every gift card. There is no minimum amount you need to put on the card.
What you do is buy a Gamer's gift card then go back and get whatever game you want and you get $5 off instantly. You can do this each time to get $5 off any game you buy. Wish I would have known about this earlier. I would probably have an extra 10 games sitting on my shelves. I've got too many as it is anyways. I have at least 10 games that I have really played yet.

$39.99 is definitely a low price for Doom 3. Too bad they didn't put that price on the ad, since some other stores will price match any sales ad just to get a sale. Did you already pre-order Doom 3 at GameRush?

Yeah, I'm hoping to pick up my copy of D3 tomorrow. If I were okay with buying the regular version I'd let my deal with GameRush fall thru and buy the game at CC. I'm (mentally) prepared to do that with all of my rez's at GameRush, actually. Of course, when I say "fall thru" I don't really mean lose my store-credit. I'll do like I did with Chaos Theory (they didn't have the Limited edition - which I had my heart set on) - which was rollover all the credit to a new resevation (in that case: Psychonauts). But I really really want the LC edition of D3 now, and my rez specifically states that it's the LC edition that I put my money down on. If for some dumb reason it's not... then hopefully they'll just let me pay the difference. Otherwise I'll go somewhere else.
You don't think you'll play Fable again? I thought I would for sure... a couple of months ago. But after finishing KOTOR II - and seeing what's left for me to play thru for a first-time, RPG-wise - I doubt it now. Still, I'm always going to hang onto it regardless. I liked the game. And I keep my stuff in mint. So years from now, when I'm reflecting and remembering and yearning to fire up the retro-rockets, I don't have to worry about trying to find the game again.

I only received the regular version of Chaos Theory as well from GameRush. If your receipt specifically says Special Edition of Doom 3, then they owe that to you. If they don't give it to you, raise hell.
I didn't know the pre-orders at GR could be rolled over to another game. I would have done that with DBZ Sagas, but I did end up getting $35 trade credit for the game, so I came out about even. Now I feel a bit more comfortable with my Batman Begins pre-order (yeah, it's a movie title :( , but Eurocom's developing this one, and they also did Buffy: Chaos Bleeds, so there's promise).
I thought about being able to find Fable at a later time, but since this game will probably be a Platinum Hits title very soon, I should be able to find it again before the end of 2005. I mainly picked it up (again) to keep for my collection, but I think I'll try to find a couple of other games that are becoming scarce, such as Drakan (PS2), Blood Omen 2 (Xbox), Pirates of the Caribbean (Xbox) and probably the 2 Buffy games. I have a feeling some titles are already becoming very hard to find.
The $29.99 deal is still on at GameRush.......time for me to see about GTA: SA for Xbox.

I had a feeling GameRush should honor your Limited Edition deal, but I wonder if they will also have the LE Jade Empire. That's the one game I didn't want to pre-order there in case they don't have the LE.
I picked up one game at GR that was already at the store: Tekken 5. It's pretty good, and a lot better than the DBZ Sagas ($35 trade in credit) that I thought had a chance to be decent.

Just one sale worth noting: Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict $39.99 at Circuit City. (Sale price effective Sunday April 17 thru Saturday April 23.)
I'm not going to get it - I can't - but this game is looking like yet another A+ title for the Xbox. (I can't get it because I've already got SC:CT and JE on my plate, with Psychonauts about to be served in just a couple of days. Plus I've yet to finish RE4 and take D3 online. Ahhh!)
IGN scores it a 9.3
GameInformer gives it 9.25 and 9.5
To put that into perspective, here's how those two scored the previous Unreal Xbox games:
Unreal Championship
IGN = 9.2
GI = 8.75 + 7.75
Unreal II: The Awakening
IGN = 7.8
GI = 8.0 + 7.5

Are you going to get Psychonauts from GameRush? I'm hoping they have the $29.99 deal for one more week, since I'm considering either picking up a game in store or pre-ordering something else. The only problem, the in-store game has been out since Jan, and the pre-order comes out in July. I may have to flip a coin to decide.......
I have a demo of Unreal Champs 2. I couldn't really get into it, though I applaud Epic Games(?) for adding 3rd person to the game, even though it's harder to aim yet easier to melee combat.

Xenosaga II... $29.99
MechAssault 2... $29.99

When it comes to Gamestop, I've noticed a lot of times when there's a price drop on their website, it's accurate to the prices at the store (well, at least in my area, but it could/should be just as accurate in all Gamestops).
The Stranger's Wrath price is inching its way down to the amount I may pay for it. I'm still disappointed the shooting parts are FP-only, but I may look past that if it's a dry spell of good games and I need something good to play.
I'm surprised at the Cold Fear drop so soon, but if a game isn't selling at $40 or $50, may as well drop it. Tenchu: Fatal Shadows also dropped for PS2 at Gamestop, for those who like the Tenchu series (like me).
Also, I did see Burnout 3 dropped to $19.99 at my local Target, but I'm unsure if that was an unadvertised sale, temp price drop, clearance, etc. Maybe it's the same price at other Target stores as well.

Still fighting the goodfight I see, Hunter. Atta boy!
Seriously. This is one cat that's thankful for your work. Memorial Day weekend I was out of town (at Indy, for the 500 of course, that's my thang) and missed the Sunday flyers. Luckily, I got you!
We've been complaining about the sales in recent weeks, but this week they kick azz, don't they!?
Best Buy: Unreal Championship 2 - $39.99
Circuit City: Forza - $37.99
Target: Gran Turismo 4, Midnight Club 3 - $38.88; Logitech Wiresles Controller for Xbox - $34
I say, dayum!
There's a few more noteworthy sales too, that you overlooked I think (same time-period):
Target:
* Free Metroid Prime 2 with purchase of GameCube system (a "$49.99-value"!)
* And oh, btw, the GameCube is on sale this week at Target for $97.
I know, big whup, 3 bucks... but still...
...and the same goes for the following... hey, it's something...
* Wario Ware Twisted and Super Mario Bros. 3 for GBA; Super Mario DS = $27.88
Best Buy:
* Logitech Xbox Cordless Headset = $69.99 (Ooooh... hel-lo!)
Sears:
* Buy a GameCube console (for $99.99) and get any Players Choice game Free... offer good thru June 11
-
And oh yeah, GameRush is still doing the Trade-In 2... for $29.99 deal. :D

A couple of weeks ago, I thought about not doing this anymore. If at least one person reads it, then I'll continue when I can (unless I miss out on a Sunday Paper).
There are some good sales going on, though I completely skipped the GC deal since I rarely mention hardware. If stores such as Target continue to have good bundles such as the one above, I will not have to worry about any half-assed bundle Nintendo may come up with whenever I get another GC.
Do Sears usually have good sales? I skip their flyer every week.

In case you hadn't gotten your answer yet: it is.
Advent Rising is not a good game. Oh, well, okay, it's not all that bad. But it certainly ain't worth $50. The game is seriously flawed. It's got framerate issues to the nth degree. It's the worst ever. You have never played a game with such problems. I am not kidding. The framerate sputs and sputters constantly. Even when you're just walking!
Aside from that it features an unconventional control and targeting scheme that takes a good while to get used to, and the camera sucks.
On the good side: the story, and the sound effects are good; while the voice-acting and the music are top notch. Like, possibly, Number 1 of all-time top notch top notch.
Still, don't pay more than $20 for this game. The creators just don't deserve it. I'm saying that and I like Majesco. I like the games that they've chosen to publish - they're different. Which I think is good. But the game needed a couple more months in the oven - at least - if you know what I mean.

Well, don't sweat it. Either way. Do it when you can; do it when you feel like. If you can't, or you don't... oh well.
I'm with you, but it's not like I go run out and cruise all over to take advantage of all these deals. In fact, I don't know if I've taken advantage of a one of them. But I like to keep up on the deals, if I can, because it helps me plan.

Once in a while. Like... once a month, maybe.
The thing about Sears tho', is that they don't advertise every special that they run. I've seen in-store signs showing price-cuts that the flyers never covered quite a few times.

I agree, Advent isn't a bad game, yet not a good game. it's decent. I ended up having this game pre-ordered way back when the GameRush deal was $34.99. Now I'm going to use it towards the on going $29.99 deal (probably for a fall release).
I agree with you about the camera. The problem for me is the auto-lock that happens when you don't want it to. It's worse when you have powers, since the auto-lock will lock on to any wall or desk that you run past. I've experienced some framerate issues, but not as bad as Gamespot is saying, since the reviewable copy has more bugs than the retain copy. Overall, it's a decent job for a first time game developer. If the game could have came out 2 years ago, it would have been received better. Personally, I'm about done these so called "cinematic wanna be movie" type of games.
Well, don't sweat it. Either way. Do it when you can; do it when you feel like. If you can't, or you don't... oh well.

If I have time, I don't mind posting as long as it's beneficial to someone. With Gamerush getting most of my attention right now, I don't hit up much of these deals either. I'm glad you put the Metroid Prime 2/GC deal, though. It reminded me that I would be better off picking up another GC from a store that will have those type of deals that at GR/EB/Gamestop, where you usually get just the system.
Once in a while. Like... once a month, maybe.

In my neck of the woods, it's over....OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guy at GameRush told me that the pre-order deal was over. I'm not sure when it ended, probably early this week. I wasn't able to get one more pre-order in (either Hitman or Spartan: Total Warrior). Oh, well. It was a great run. They had a similar deal last Holiday season, so it's a chance they will bring it back, though I will not wait on it.

On the GameRush website, the deal looks like it's still going. I guess my area shut it down since there were only two people really doing it. There could be a chance it's still going on in your area.
Hmm....not a GTA SA Fan, huh? You should be able to get $35 for it, even if the deal is over.

RBH,
* I've changed my mind about Advent Rising. It is a bad game.
* Luckily, the GameRush deal is still going on here.
Though now you got me scared that they're going to shut it down soon. So scared in fact that I kind of jipped myself on my last trade-in: traded in 2 games for a $39.99 game (Wipeout Pure). What was I thinking?!
The problem is that I already have every currently priced $49.99 game I want, and every future release I want already pre-ordered. And even some games I don't want. The only game I can think of left to pre-order is Final Fantasy XII. But I have no idea when that game is going to come out so I can't do it. There's nothing left for me to trade-in for! Though I still have some games I'd like to trade in. So I'm just trading them in and not collecting on my pre-ordered games, amassing store credit. I'll have enough for a NDS and a couple of games here pretty soon. (What games I have no idea.)
I only got $30 for GTA:SA. :( They're not giving $35 for anything anymore. Kind of smart of them tho' - as it was it was a good way to rent a game for free then turnaround and trade in the game and make money off them (getting $35 for a game you bought for $30).
* No, I didn't like GTA:SA. It ain't for me. And the game is technically (or is it technologically?) a p.o.s. Gosh, it's terrible! Still, I do have to admit that I had a hard time stopping playing it.

It would be nice if those bastards at GameRush knew when the deal was going to end. I honestly got tired of being in the dark about when it would end. Now, if I pre-order somewhere, it will probably be Gamestop....only if I impulse buy a game and end up returning it.
I'm kind of not surprised at the $30 for GTA SA now that you mention it. I only got $30 for Advent (a wasted pre-order) as well. I'm doing the same thing and collecting some game credit. I'll probably use that towards another GC for when Zelda comes out.... Speaking of GTA: SA, it's really not a big improvement over the PS2 version. The graphics are the same, the controls are a bit worse (because of the black and white buttons), and I notice if I drive really fast, the game doesn't stream in all the buildings and stuff until I slow down. It's still fun, but next gen there's no excuse for a technically (or technologically) p.o.s. game.
I pretty much stopped wanting to pre-ordering at GR when I ran out fo definite 2005 games to get. Since a lot of games don't have release dates yet, I ended up pre-ordering fall games (Castlevania: CoD and Zelda). Everything else either didn't have a definite date, or it was too iffy to be worth a pre-order.

Best Buy I went to today had a huge rack of videogames, already marked low with yellow tags, on sale for HALF OFF what they were marked. I got Metal Arms and the NES GBA game Ice Climber for $5 each, and Namco Gallery for $7.
There several of the NES GBA series, like Xevious, Metroid, and a couple others on sale for $5. Tons of Xbox titles; I didn't recognize most of them except DOA Ultimate, but it didn't like it was all dreck (or more so than normal, but I know one mans trash is anothers treasure.) For Ps2, GC, Xbox, GBA. . . lots of crap, but lots of good stuff too (I almost picked up Sims: Urbz for GC for $5, but hey, you know. . . the EA thing.)
I was mostly interested in the GBA titles. They had stuff like GTA, Mario Pinball, and F-Zero (and many other of these $29 games) on the half-off rack as well.
I lucked out and it was a lunch hour trip on the first day of the sale. I could see this getting picked over FAST.

It appears that Jade Empire has dropped to $29.99, according to Gamestop.com. From my experience, the prices on that webpage has been the same as the in-store prices, more so than at EBGames (their website isn't as reliable).
If Jade dropped in price this early, that must mean that sales didn't go very well. That's kind of disappointing, but Jade is still my #2 Xbox game this year, behind Mercenaries.

I went to CC yesterday, and they had a lot of good games and bad crapfest games. I picked up King of Fighters Max Impact (PS2), PoP Warrior Within (GC), and WWE: Day of Reckoning (GC), which makes my GC purchase look better. Other games I passed on included: Psi-Ops (If it's there later on, I may get it again since it was pretty fun), Rumble Roses, Project Snowblind, Primal, NHL 2005, F-Zero GX, Ridge Racer (DS), BloodRayne 2, Mafia, Baten Kaitos (it sucks), and some more that I can't remember right away. Surprisingly, they didn't have FSW or Ratchet & Clank 2 in the bin, but they would have to honor the games at that price since it's listed.

I didn't know that if you leave the site and come back, you can't edit a post. Oh, well, chaulk up another post count for me :) (how did I get over 1,100 anyway? I don't have that much to talk about....)
For World Champ Poker, it's the PS2 version only that's shown. For SW: Battlefront, it's both the PS2 and Xbox version. It's a pretty fun game, more skewed towards multiplayer, though. If I was a Live gamer, this would be one of the games I would play.

Yeppers. I went there today on my lunch. I couldn't find any FSWs in the bin, so took a look in their regular rack. Sure enough, there it was. $19.99. Last one too. So I grabbed it. And while it did ring up $19.99, I pointed out the add - which they then honored. :D
That's the only game I bought. Though I had Breakdown, Drakengard, and Ridge Racer DS in my hand at one time or another. If I would have seen Pop:WW I would have bought that one tho'. Even if alls they had was the Cube version.

How many more games were in the basket?
This year's Basket o' games is a lot better than CC's basket last year. They had a bunch of crappy titles in last year's for $5, which were only useful for trade bait at EB and GameRush. Even then, it seemed like the GC had better titles in the bin than PS2/Xbox.
I'm a bit on the fence about Psi-Ops. If CC still has a copy, I may pick it up, but it's more of a want than need. I'm sure I will not find a new version for $9.99 anywhere else, plus it's the only game I know that does psychic powers right (I have yet to play Psychonauts, and we know how well Advent Rising came out).
I've gone from scraping to find something that will hold my attention to having too many games to play at one time.
Also, I'm predicting one more $29.99 or even $34.99 deal at GameRush for pre-orders. They had one last year just before the Holidays, and though they have had 2 so far this year, it's the best deal they've ever had.

Thanks RBH and Glock, this thread is very insightful.
I went to CC on my lunch today and picked-up Rainbow Six 3 (XBOX) and WWE Day of Reckoning (GC) for $9.99 each. Plus as an added bonus, my copy of Rainbow Six 3 is the one that came with the free XBOX live headset! Not that I needed another one but for $9.99 - quite a steal.
My local CC didn't have a copy of Full Spectrum Warrior available or I would have picked that up also. However I did see some other games I considered grabbing at 9.99:
NHL Rivals (XBOX)
Chronicles of Riddick (XBOX)
Brute Force (XBOX)
The ICP insane wrestling game - whatever its called (both were 9.99)
Thanks again guys. I'll have to watch this thread every week now for the scoop on cheap games.

I'm actually hoping CC doesn't have more basket o' games, since I'm inclined to go down there each week to see what's new and come out with something I don't need.
I know what ICP Wrestling game you're talking about....Backyard Wrestling 2. I saw it in my local CC. I also saw a wrestling game called Rumble Roses (PS2). It's not bad, plays like Smackdown, but the story mode is that wrecks the game.
If you have a local GameRush in your Blockbuster, we also post any deals they may have, especially any pre-order deals.

No, I don't have a local GameRush. Actually never heard of it until I read this thread. Blockbusters sell games around here and have just expanded to buying and selling used titles within the last year. Nothing to write home about at those places yet.
Also don't have MediaPlay? Whats that all about anyway - never heard of it. The places I frequent for games are GameStop, EB Games, Best Buy, Circuit City, Target & Toys'R Us.
Lately, I've gotten the best prices over E-bay. I go out there and see whats ending soonest and scope if the price is a steal w/low shipping. I've picked up a few titles lately for like $5:
NCAA College Hoops 2k5, JSRF, Blood Wake & a couple others.
I think I may go back to CC on Friday or Saturday and grab some more goodies - can't resist. Plus, I have a different nearby location I can check out to see if they have anything different.

If your Blockbusters are selling and buying used games, don't be surprised if they section a part of the store off and use that for their GameRush. They will also put one of their "morons" in a GR shirt and call him a gaming expert. Whenever they have deals, they are usually good, along with getting some great trade in credit. Unfortunately, their shipping seems to be the worst in the world, so any pre-orders will have you waiting a few days after EB and Gamestop get their games.
Media Play sells CDs, movies, games, books, and cheap coffee. They are also trying out a used games, cds, and movie section that may not be all that great. You're not missing much, since they don't seem to have good deals on games on a regular basis.

These flyers are designed well in advance of printing and distribution. GTA won't be available at Target for $44.88 unfortunately.

Cheeky theorizing aside, it's clear who the losers on the front line are. Almost every major retailer in North America, including Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, and the aforementioned Circuit City, has pulled the game from its shelves. GameStop yesterday said it would lose more than $1 million just from not being able to sell used copies of the game.

All that aside, some pretty great deals this week. I wonder if Circuit City still has the $9.99 bin :)

I noticed Gamestop and Circuit City pulled their GTA SA off the shelves last week, and EB and Gamestop doesn't even offer it online. I'm sure gamers will not be able to trade in their GTA SAs if they wanted to, not right now anyway.
My local CC still had the bin as late as last Thursday, with a boat load of games still in there. I think they are trying to get rid of inventory, and will more than likely keep the bin until the games are gone, or ship them back to the big dawgs if they can't get any sales. Last time I looked, there was Rainbow Six (GC), Rumble Roses (PS2), and Primal (PS2)in the bin that caught my attention, but I'm not sure if I should take a look at any of these. Maybe Primal, since that may be worth the $10, but not unless I plan on keeping the game.

Best Buy is giving away demo discs for Burnout Revenge first come first serve. I grabbed an XBOX and a PS2 copy of the demo.
I also spoke with a Gamestop employee who informed me that Rockstar has now recalled all GTA San Andreas which is slightly different than the original plan of afixing a new ESRB label. Rockstar decided to do so since so many retailers opted not to sell an "AO" rated title (according to the GS employee).

Thanks for the info.
Any idea how many more demos were at your local Best Buy? I'm hoping they have extras when I go by there tomorrow.
I'll probably skip on the full version of Burnout Revenge, but a demo could always change my mind as long as they fixed some problems I had with the last game.

They probably had about 10 of each version. Thats not to say they might have more in a box somewhere and are only putting out so many at a time.
Regardless, I'd go ASAP to ensure you don't miss out.
The demo contains a 1 lap race that you are immediately dropped into with no choice of car other than the one you're given. I noticed some gameplay enhancements that make Burnout Revenge much more enjoyable than BO3. When racing super fast and you bump into a non-racing vehicle (pedestrian car or truck) you no longer crash. Now you push the vehicle out of your way and keep on driving - very nice touch.
Criterion also somehow managed to make the graphics even sharper and better looking. I only played the XBOX version of the demo so far but it looks noticably better than its predecessor.
I wasn't planning on picking up BO Revenge but may be making a reservation here shortly after playing this demo.
No wonder they give these out for free :D

I'm going to try and get to Best Buy early, since I will be in the area. Hopefully, they have restocked the demos. If I get a copy, I'll add my impressions of the game (probably in the Xbox forum).
I liked it when you crash when you hit non-racing cars. It made the arcady game a little bit realistic. My problem with BO3 is the fact that the races end up being all nitro-dependant. Forget racing skills, forget hitting that curve just right, as long as you have a lot of nitro, you can win any race....even if you're about 20 sec. behind the leader with one lap left.

Oops, I just realized...
Hunter, suppose we ought to tell them about the GameRush deal, eh? Sorry guys.
The GameRush deal that we've been talking about so often in this thread - the one that's the best in the universe! - the one that ended a little bit ago is BACK.
But we'll call this one "Version 3". Like Version 2 before it, you get any game - new release, pre-order, whatever (up to $49.99) - for $29.99 when you trade in two games. (Version 1 was $34.99.) (You also get your usual trade in credit for those games you trade in.) They just added one stipulation: the games you trade in have to carry a re-sale value of at least $7.99. Don't worry about that too much though, because, really, the only games that don't make the cut are the old old sports games. (And Kabuki Warriors and whatnot.) But anyways you can go to the store and peruse their used game section and see what they sell your games for yourself.
As before - with both previous versions - this deal runs for "a limited time only" - no specific end-date has been given.

I forgot about posting the deal. Thanks for remembering.
The good thing about this version 3: wrestling games are allowed to be traded again. Day of Reckoning is tradeworthy, and if I remember right, Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain (and maybe Shut Your Mouth) can be traded, as long as the sued selling price is $7.99, as Glock mentioned. The bad thing about V3: That old, reliable, cheap to buy (in case you need a 2nd game to trade) Metal Gear Solid 2 will not trade in anymore.
Did you ever do any trades with GameRush's version 1? I absolutely abused it! :D

That was the "$34.99" one, right? If so, yes. Unfortunately I did most of my trades during that Version... because then they made the deal sweeter.

I wonder about the pre-order extras. It sounds like some may be store-exclusive and some may be publisher-driven. The publisher-driven are the best, imo, because they give out bonus dvds and demos and stuff. The store-exclusive are just the posters and t-shirts (which are always too small). I received a calendar when I got the Rumble Roses and Wrasslemania 21 games. Both had their problems (RR had anime girls instead of real hot asian chicks while W21 had mostly guys and wrasslin rings but no Victoria), but I ended up using the RR calendar.

I thought the buy 2 get 1 free deal was the same as GR, until I saw the word NEW. That makes a huge difference to me when it comes to getting games from formerly movie-rental only stores. They sell any game, regardless of how scratched up that thing is. It gets to the point where I make them show me the disk before I get it. With a deal for new games, that eliminates my need for being bossy.
Unfortunately, there's still no GameCrazy near me :( If there was, I would have picked up Demon Stone (I've been interested in this game for a while), Stolen, and maybe even Tork or LOTR. That's a great deal for The Punisher game. It's a solid game that fits better in a rotation than just playing it alone, so it will not feel as repetitive.
Grwsander Gen Deluxe? From the title alone, that sounds like a game where each turn-based fight takes 30 minutes to finish. Maybe I'm wrong.
