I am certain that everyone has either had an opportunity to play Madden 2004 and/or ESPN Football. For those that haven't, here is a mild comparison of the two.

DEPTH:
Madden--Owner's mode is the best around. The ability to control ticket prices, marketing strategy, hiring of coaches and (GULP) the option of relocating your franchise is outrageous. Also, retired players can be hired as coaches. How deep can you get?

ESPN--Franchise mode has no upgrades. However, the new Crib is a sweet way of unlocking cool stuff. It is a combination of Madden cards and EA Bio mixed in one. The longer you play, and the different challenges you complete open up unlockables to decorate your Crib with. The paper football and trivia game are excellent.

GAMEPLAY:
Madden--Moves very, very fast. If you have stayed away from Madden for two years, this moves like lightning. Although there have been upgrades to DBs, still too many issues with scoring. Motion capture is much improved.

ESPN--The overall feel is NFL. From fighting at the line of scrimmage, to reading blitzes, ESPN feels and plays like a football game should.

GRAPHICS:
Madden--EA has done an excellent job in duplicating faces and player-specific celebrations (Vanderjagt's dance after a FG). The player models are improved although this is a matter of preference. The uniforms getting increasingly dirty throughout a game is awesome.

ESPN--The player models are some of the best yet. The uniforms actually appear to look like cloth. The player faces are downright spooky. My only gripe is that the uniforms don't get dirty during the action. If you play in the mud, the unis get dirty at the end of each quarter. Not a big deal but something that VC could have fixed. The stadiums and sideline animations are great.

PRESENTATION:
Madden--Decent, but nothing to write home about.

ESPN--The best ever. Chris Berman and the weekly Sunday Night Countdown, complete with highlights, is too sweet. Adds greatness to an already great game.

 I am so disapointed with two aspects of Madden #1.) The graphics, I mean come on this the XBOX and I'm pretty fed up with these developers halfassing the job, I understand that PS2 cant have as good of graphics as XBOX thats fine but dont give us a product for Xbox that has THE QUALITIES of a PS2 game in reguards to graphics, it's pathitic to me it looks sega NFL2K whatever. #2.) Online WTF happened here are you in some kind of power struggle with sony or something because I can't begain to understand why Sony has there game online over Xbox thats like putting 20" rims on a Grimlin and having stock wheels on an Escalade. Xbox is the premire online gamming system plain and simple. EA better get thier heads out of thier a$$ before consumers wake up from hypnotic state.

ESPN: I haven't played that game yet but from commercials it looks better than Madden hands down. I have heard that the online portion is a bit unstable and alot of times you cant finish a game, kinda reminds me sega NFL2K1/2 I could hardly finish a game without it disconnecting  I'm honestly think of just getting Fever2004 because I know thats solid online Footbal gamming, I have heard the issue's with playbooks being the same for all the teams but I can change that by making my own plays. The graphics on the game look phenominal I mean WOW! The way the players move is so fluid in comparison to Madden where players move a little stiff not as stiff as before but still stiff, I think the players on Madden might be suffering from athritis I recommend Bextra 500mg. to ease the joint pain. :D
I'm gonna rent Fever first and try it out before I buy but it's between ESPN and FEVER, Madden has been canceled for one year atleast. :(

Damn right and the consumer WILL wake from this slumber of idiocy one day...well...maybe. EA screws MS well, remember who's bigger...MS should BUY EA and CUT OFF games to PS2.

I don't like football, it's poopy stain, so both Madden and ESPN mean nothing to me. But I can always play NFL Blitz because for novice gamers it's easy for anyone. Kisses. I heard the new blitz came out today but it's not online for XBOX. Now that's poopy stain!

Personally, I have more fun playing Madden than ESPN/Sega football games. I don't care about playing it online (until I can do a franchise online), so that isn't even an issue. There's just something about ESPN/Sega football that I don't enjoy, eventhough I played the NFL 2k series before the first Madden on ps2.
