Got burned out already on eq2 since the grind after level 40 is stupid, talking 3+ days per level and thats playing 5-10 hours+ each day so I put my game and account on ebay and they cancelled it claiming it breached they interlectual property....when plenty of other auctions we're already up there and ending with no probs, SoE makes $500,000+ a month from EQ2 alone so why so greedy?
Whats WoW like for selling account if you get tired of it?

LOL! What did I start? The eq2 forums are in riot mode right now since people were trying to sell they used dvds//cds of the game and SoE will not even allow that, people are furious there.
Whats the gaming market coming to these days?
Is it gonna come to that companies will not even allow used console games on there no more? is that the future of gaming? You buy the product then you're stuck with it, even if it don't work??
They can't do that. It's illegal to try and stop a reseller market. It would be like Ford suing you for selling your 1997 Mustang. All this stuff about intellectual property rights is just a bunch of BS.

You couldn't sell back EQ1 either, since what you're really buying is the CD-key and it gets attached to your account when you register the game...it'd be kinda hard to sell your game back without your characters in tow.
Not really an excuse, but it's the reasoning behind it.

People still sold eq1 stuff in droves though, people sold tons of swg stuff but now i'm reading soe clamped down a iron grip, swg suffered a huge blow recently where on one server there was a huge demonstration and SoE threatened to shut down the entire server! I'll find the webpage and link.
"Greeting Intrepid-This message is directed to those involved with the demonstration currently in process. We appreciate your concerns for your friends, however, this is causing a disruption to the server and we must ask that these demonstrations discontinue. We must inform you that if the demonstration do not cease withing 10 minutes, all affected zones will be brought down. Those who have concerns are welcome to e-mail swgsupport@soe.sony.com"
The news on SWG though is that lucasarts is very unhappy with SoE so expect that to be newsworthy soon.
FFXI is almost dead as well, people don't want to pay $50 for the game, then $15 and play until they get bored and find out they can't pass on there hard work or maybe even get back a little bit of money they spent, SoE makes millions a month on subs and software purchases why should they care?

And the moral of the story? If you want to play a online role-playing game, play Neverwinter Nights or Guild Wars...
I just don't know why people don't listen to me from the start! ;) There's one thing I'm really excited about Guild Wars for... the lack of a sub, and the promised expansion packs. If the game is good enough, the expansion packs will make tons of profit for them. What happens though if NCSoft doesn't want to host the games anymore? Does the game simply end? If that happens, I would be pretty pissed, but again, at least I haven't paid a cent more than the game itself in order to play.

In general I am wary of MMORPGs, they're all grindfests just to level up for no real purpose. I heard though that WoW is different and isn't like that. Of course I am skeptical but maybe one day I will try it. Highly unlikely though since I would have trouble paying monthly fees. I might try Guildwars instead (no monthly) although form the Beta Test that I played, as well as feedback from other users, Guildwars looks like a lot of grind as well.
However Guildwars does play a bit like diablo, which is a plus for me, although I would be playing it for my Diablo fix and not for any kind of "deep" roleplaying online fix.
If you're gonna sell WoW accounts though I would imagine it would be easy since WoW seems to be selling like pancakes and I remember before Diablo accounts fetched top dollar. With the Blizzard brandname and the fact that WoW is like the best rated MMORPG ever, I don't think you'll find any problems.

Funny I recall a thread before where I made a stupid argument that selling used products is a bit like piracy because when you sell the item, no extra money actually goes to the original vendor. Maybe they realized this was true so they are prohibiting 2nd hand sales now, lol.
There is an argument I do not agree with...If I buy a car and use it and then sell it after it was paid in full...Ford doesn't get a dime the second time around ! I know you didn't make that comment Mochan but whoever came up with that logic must have a few loose screws. I buy and sell games over and over. I also purchase alot of used games as few do I need hot off the shelf. Piracy is a problem but come on people ..lets go totally overboard. Good games sell well and make money for all...crap doesn't sell and you can not blame that on piracy.

Actually I did make that comment! It was more a joke topic at the time though I remember some people took it really seriously.
