I am a big FPS fan, bar Halo,can anybody recommend any good ones on the Xbox?

What type of shooters have you played before? And what type of shooter are you looking for? Let me know and I'll elaborate more.

1) "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" has an excellent single player mode. Good levels, good AI. The multiplayer is good, albeit a bit laggy, and since it's been out for a while there are not a lot of people playing on Live. Worthy of a purchase.

2) For a good, slow-paced, strategic military FPS, I would easily recommend "Rainbox Six 3", or it's expansion pack. Worthy of a purchase.

3) For a good rental, I would recommend "Red Faction 2". You'll get your $5 worth, but the game lacks good replay value. This is more arcadish shooter, with a fairly interesting story, and some good weapons. The game is a bit short and the AI is kinda dumb, so it is not worth a purchase.

Of course, the best FPS, in my opinion, is Halo 2. Nothing beats Halo 2's single player campaign.

There are also some good third person shooters:

1) "Metal Arms: a glitch in the system" is freaking amazing. It is a very good shooter with a lot of variety to the game, and the game is quite long so you'll get your money's worth.

2) The new Ghost Recon 2 is a third or first person shooter (you get to choose). It is a strategic, realistic military shooter. It's got a lengthy single player mode and excellent online modes.

I enjoyed Medal of Honour : Rising Sun when I played that, although alot of that has to do with the interesting storyline...

Still I think its a fun FPS, and here in Australia its cheap now too

I have always heard good things about The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher's Bay, though I have never played it.
