According to this report, the PS2 and Xbox will be receiving this game after a period of exclusiveness on the Gamecube. Anybody else know anything about this?
If this is true, knock one more big title of the Gamecube exclusive list. Looks like Mario whatever and dreams of a realistic Zelda is all us Cube owners will have to look forward to.
Edit:
Another news story has confirmed that Resident Evil 4 is coming to the PS2 after Capcom gave a big F-U to Nintendo and reneged on the last, lone exclusive title slated for the Gamecube. The Xbox version is as yet unconfirmed but is a possibility given the "older audience" that the Xbox is perceived to have.

Old news man. You're one month behind. I doubt the game will see an X-box release considering that the PS2 version isn't due till late 2005.

Guess the old guy can't keep up. This news is so old, it's been fossilized. Non-news in my book. Who's going to wait a year unless a ps2 is all you got.

Well I'd hate to be repetitive, but this is more than a month old. Its really sad for you troll up topics that old.

Didn't mean to "troll up" an old topic. I haven't been on the net in quite awhile (looking at games at least) and yesterday was the 1st I had heard of it.
But if it makes you feel better, I would have no problem with the mods erasing this thread. Sorry for any misunderstanding and please, give me more credit than this: If I want to troll, I can do a helluva lot better job than that. And FYI....in case you didn't notice...my post which started this thread was in the form of a question. As in, I was looking for some input on the matter.

Here's some input:
Its kind of like GTA exclusivity. I don't think it will impact the Gamecube sells of this game, especially with a PS2 version not due till the end of 2005 if that, seeing as the GC version should have been out already. The majority won't want to wait for this game on the PS2 (unless they don't have a gamecube, yet I would think a few would buy a GC just to play this despite the limited exclusivity) and just buy it on the GC, plus it'll look better and run smoother on the GC anyways.
Btw I thought it was kind of interesting that the U.S. version is slated to come out a couple of weeks before the Japanese version. Interesting.
Anyone remember the "Big 5"?
P.N. 03 ,Viewtiful Joe, Killer , Dead Phonex and RE4...together, they were supposed to be a symbol of Nintendo's renewed ability to bring in 3rd parties. It was something they desperately needed to do. Generic 3rd-party ports, and collaborations to make Nintendo-style games weren't going to cut it. Capcom was one of the precious few developers willing to create original content for the platform.
And what happened? PN 03 was a stinker, Dead Phoenix was cancelled and the others lost their exclusivity. As a GC owner I can feel bad about it, but at this stage in the game not only do I understand why this is happening, but I can also applaud it. Simply put, these games deserve a bigger audience than the meager one Nintendo has provided for them. Why would I as a developer make an awesome game, this great labor of love, only to release it to the smallest audience possible, see it flop and lose money? Releasing a game exclusively on GC would be like releasing LOTR only to theatres in New Zealand. I like the console...I really do, but it's not fair for developers to take a financial bath, lose money and risk going out of business because Nintendo no longer knows how to sell systems. Capcom placed their faith in Nintendo that they were not supporting another N'64, and when they saw themselves about to get burned, they left. Congratulations Nintendo, you've managed to alientate every 2nd and 3rd party that dared to write software for you.
To say I am deeply disappointed in the Gamecube would be a understatement....
Uh, sorry, but it is an erosion of support. Nintendo made a very big deal about their exclusives that were coming from capcom. This was a highly publicized affair and nintendo was doing some major posturing over securing exclusive titles from capcom. RE4 going to the ps2 is a blow. I don't think anyone saw this one coming.
Actually, RE4 going to PS2 isn't that big a shock to me. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Like Shogun said, Nintendo has failed to guarantee sales of good third party games on their system. The death knell for this game began when Nintendo announced MP2 would be launching days away from it and Capcom ended up delaying it to slightly after Christmas. In the end, it wasn't going to sell well and Capcom moved on.
The only one that wanted exclusivity for GC was Shinji Mikami. He managed to do his best I guess. PN03 is still GC exclusive () after all and Killer 7 won't be released for PS2 in N. America.
Well put, Shogun (and nice analogy).
I know this may sound weird coming from a PS2 supporter, but why do it this way? It doesn't make sense. Why not release the RE1 remake and RE:0 on PS2, see how the sales go? If they're successful, then release RE4. Capcom & Sony make money and Nintendo doesn't get alienated. That way everbody's happy.
Why not do it this way?
Yada yada theres more. Most people agree, it sucks but won't really affect GC sales.
