Beyond Good and Evil and Prince of Persia, according to rumors have been snagged by PS2; not permanetly, but they will now launch there first. This sucks; it will no doubt hurt sales of the GC and Xbox versions of these games. Don't ask me where I got this rumor; I was really plastered last night and this was about all I remember--I don't normally get tanked like that. It was in some game magazine at Barnes and Noble. I managed to make it out of the store with a bunch of music and a book, and I found FF: Tactics Advance in my briefcase this morning, so it appears I made it to Best Buy after the bar as well. It is kind of a weird game, more complex than I'd anticipated--seems like it is going to be a lot of fun. I sort of wish I'd bought Advance Wars II instead, but obviously I wasn't thinking clearly. At least I didn't buy PNO3 (but from what I've played of it, I think it is actually fun enough to be a good rental. It certainly LOOKS cool, so I'd have thought xbots would really dig it.)

The bad news for GC and X-box owners is that the rumor is true.
The good news is that it applies only to European territories.
So, if you live in N. America, the games will launch at roughly the same time for all consoles.

Whoa, had me worried for a second. I'm really looking forward to this game and it'd suck if I had to wait for it just so a company could sell a few more copies for the PS2.

Sorry to have jumped to conclusions. . . I did admit I was a bit loaded. Anyway, apparently I bought the magazine, too. Here it sits on my desk, and you are right, it is a British import magazine called CUBE. THat's where the "rumor" was. Anyway, the magazine also has two GC demo disks in it. ONe has "playable cheats" and one has video footage, including Twin Snakes, Final Fantasy, Tales of Symphonia, The Suffering, and some other stuff.

Thanks for the heads up about the demo discs. I'm gonna see if I can find that magazine around here.

One thing I have noticed is that it really doesn't hurt console sales all that much when a 3rd party game goes exclusive for a time like 6 months, it hurts game sales. People that might have just a XBOX or Cube, and a game is exclusive to PS2 for 6 months generally wont sell as much when it finally hits XBOX and Cube, why? cuz the game is old news. They really should just release games all at the same time when possible, in there favor.
