I just started playing Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne on the PS2, and bought a strategy guide for it. In the back of the guide, there is a Q&A session between a guy from Atlus and one of the Japanese developers.
In that discussion, the developer mentions a phenomenon in Japan among gamers known as '3D sickness' which is very similar to motion sickness.
One of my favorite genre of games are science fiction racing games, like FZero, Kinetica, etc. and I have never had any of the symptoms ascribed to 3D sickness. However, my wife can only watch me play those games for a minute before she has to leave the room as they make her stomach queasy.
Then, I got Katamari Damacy, and after playing that for a few hours, I did get sick at the stomach. In fact, it now happens every time I play it. Now, I know that as soon as I feel any symptoms, I need to quit, and it will go away. But if I ignore it, it gets pretty bad.
Has anyone else here had the symptoms of 3D sickness?
